I don't really trust Big Lot stuff but I may check out the Koak.

I didn't have any luck last night I think due to heavy fog... I hunted Suzie, Chopper and Blu... Blu hung right with them all night long he isn't afraid of the dark that's for sure.. And at one point he took off by himself and was gone for almost an hour... This was Blu's 1st trip to the woods at night with other hounds he just turned four months old.. Maybe I will have better luck next time out...

Thanks Dave I am not so sure I am really physically ready for the woods... But cabin fever is hard to control ...Lol... I am really looking forward to putting Chopper under some coons I have missed the some and spring hunting due to heat and this injury... The guy who was gonna take Chopper never did... But he has really came around... I had him at camp this past weekend which was a strange place that he had never been and I had ZERO problems... JR

I just got in from a very wet hunt only made one drop Blu tree barked some not bad for the first time being at the tree... Only second trip to the woods at night... More details later and Video if I get around to processing it... Here is a still picture until I get the video up... Enjoy JR

Last night's hunt 9/28/11

I got off to a late start... I dumped the dogs out @ 10:35pm by 10:45pm It was flat pouring the rain... So I had to sit in the truck It was raining so hard I could hear a thing... By 11:00pm I hadn't seen or heard any of the dogs so I turn my tracker on and they seem to be fairly deep... I finally get them located and find them treed @ 12:18am so I listen and I hear Blu tree barking... I go into the tree to sit up video and my light over heats and goes out I usually carry a spare and last night I did... So I am fumbling around trying to get everything sit up because I am by myself with 4 hounds... Chooper is trying to ride my female Pepper and Blu starts barking more at them then treeing so I tie Chopper back wanting to fool with Blu at the tree then I tie Pepper back amongest it all I just deciced WHATEVER!!! They were treed in a pine of course I squalled some and couldn't see anything.. I take all the dogs back to the truck and discovered I had lost a LED flash light... So I go back to look for it and low and behold as I was walking the rain had stopped for now I see the coon sitting in the tree.. So here is some of the video not much good do to several things as you can see my light is out it does come cback on though eventually but maybe you all will get the idea of it all.. Enjoy, JR

Good God Junior, 4 dogs with one of them being Roofus while hunting by your self with a bad knee. What if he had went deep? LOL

I can see Roofus still has it. You need to put a video of him on the Loud English thread on the main board. Your pup looks good.

As bad as my Cabin Fever is I am sure my hounds are too... Lol... This wasn't the best video I have done but it was a joy for me... I forgot to show the coon at the end.. I may do another one sometime later on with the coon in it...

As for Roofus he let me know real quick last night when I was loading the other hounds that he was going to have to go too...

I also seen something last night I can't ever remember ever seeing before... On the way home a Grey Squirrel ran across the road in front of me sometime around 1am.. Has anyone else ever seen this before???

No hunting tonight... We went and got Kinley, Chaddy and Kaiden nearly 3 yrs old grandbabies... We are taking them to the Zoo tomorrow... So I must rest after two nights of hunting... I am sure it will be harder then keeping up with Roofus...Lol

We got snow here in the mountains last night I will post some pictures later... I hunted Suzie last night and she treed one before the snow got to bad... I just got in a very long story... That I may not even tell... Lol... We are at camp...

Glad the snow waited till I cleared out of WV went through fri night and back yesterday took a couple young dogs to Terry Reid to work was a rainy trip in WV . never seen kitten coon so small hit in the road as i did down there sounds like your healing up good keep em treeing Neal

I hear ya Neal... Yes I am heally fine...

We got snow in the mountains last night enough to run snow plow trucks a lot of timber got broken as well... I was in one place where they was 2-4 inches... above 5,000' though... 1-2 inches about 4,000'... I had to hunt low But I did tree one coon.. I am not ready for that white stuff yet... JR

Kill season starts tonight...

I recieved a call from my dad wednesday night wanting to go hunting with me tonight... He hasn't coon hunted with me for close to 20 years... So I guess I will have to take it easy on him tonight... He is wanting go into some deep woods that we have never coon hunted before... The Cranberry Back Country Foot Travel only... So I guess I will have to leave Roofus at home tonight... I am sure it will be a joy to hit woods with dad... He never got hooked on coon hunting like me because he never had a good hound... Every time he went he had a deer chase TREEING WALKER STYLE... Lol... Wish us some luck and a safe hunt as I take advantage of this special moment with my dad... JR

Last Night's hunt

It was a long rough night but a flat joy to have may dad along for the hunt... Acording to the pedometer we walked 6.961 miles... We had nearly a full moon and heavy winds... We treed within mins of turning loose.. However weren't able to see the coon to many leaves... On the 2nd tree we treed in a den... Here is a video from last nights hunt... Enjoy, JR

Son of Roofus Sold

Champion Lakeland 's Bawlie has been sold as a bear hound to Mike Miller of Elkview WV... Bawlie treed 7 bear in the this years early season... Bawlie is a son of Roofus and a littermate brother to Chopper... Bawlie wasn't suiting me as a competive type coon hound so I sold him for the purchase price That I for him... I feel he has a home for life they are really liking him on bear... Good luck with him Mike... Thanks, JR

We will be making some other changes soon... I have a new pup coming from Nebraska that I have high hopes for.. If she shows me what I am hoping for we will make some changes... Hopefully to the good... I am liking what I see out Roofus pups and I want to try to improve todays lines with some old Bloodlines that I feel the English breed has lost..

I am very excited about our future plans...

I am thinking we will name her

Junior, I am very confident that a high percentage of Roofus pups will make excellent bear dogs. You need to make bear hunters aware anytime you have a litter of pups out of Roofus.

Between you, I, and my friend Martin, we made a bear hunter in Michigan a very happy guy. The dog he got carries the same bloodline as Roofus. His sire was a half brother to Roofus' mother.

Thats great!!!

I need to call him back and let him know that Bawlie has been SOLD.. Although I am waiting on the check to clear @ the bank to make 100% sure... I should know for sur in 3 or 4 days... That guy seemed very interested in your bloodline... It sounds good to hear from satisfied guys....

I hope that the future cross I plan on make in a couple years makes some bawl mouth cold nosed old style tree hounds...

I am thinking very seriously about having Roofus Drawn for later years down the road... Do you have any advise you can give me??? I feel that I should do it soon while he is still in his prime... I don't want to wait until he gets to old and lose his sperm count...

I am planing on paying up Roofus' 2012 Performance soon as well...

I think someone deleted Bawlie's thread.. I couldn't find it yesterday... Mike says he will send me some pictures of Bawlie but we will see... I will be adding the pictures I have of him on the Big Game thread soon... Dave, Thanks for all that you have done, JR

That's fine with me as long as it is with you... I am on a 6 day a week work schedule until at least January this is our busy season... about the only time could meet up with you would be on a sunday or a saturday evening... This Saurday isn't good we are having my mom a surprise Birthday party... But I know I can get dad to meet you anyday in Nettie or Craigsville... So what ever is the best for you... Frances Gail calls snow "the S word". She is a Georgia gal that hates it. So far, no S word here in the Land of Lincoln, just a little frost. I will bet you are selling the snow tires.

Frozen snow never slowed up Roofus like it will lots of coon hounds.

I worked a 13hr shift yesterday we done $22,000.00 in business as a company in five stores we done $95,752.14 . Needless to say I hit the bed early... Off to busy day today the ground is covered in snow...

Snow in the WV mountains!!!

Me and dad went deer scouting early this morning in about 4-5 inches of snow... We seen more bear sign than deer... We walked up on a mama bear and two cubs feeding on beach... We managed to tree the two cubs but they came out before we could get any pictures... Below are some pictures we took...
