Yes sir he was a good man. And yes it was a long way thru there I can remember walking from summer Lyons pull in back to papas many nite but I was much younger and papa was a young man then sure miss those ole guys that was the best times in my life you joe papa cotton the Jordan boys is why I got hooked on this dang habit. Thanks for the memories

Memories, I believe Joe, Calvin and Sonny was along the night I fell out of the tree and fractured my back. That's the night I figured out that 22 shells are cheap. Natural Blue Rose had split treed and i thought she needed that coon.

First day of school my 5th grade yr. walked into sonnys class sat down and he says well I know one guy that will pass this class. But the kicker was grandma had to make him a paper bag apple pie. Well I think she made several but I passed with flying colors. Sorry to get off the huntin subject.

Charlie would scare anyone until you got to know him. My grandad and I got treed down from his house one nite I didn't have any shells with me so I went to Charlie's asked for a hand full he gave me a whole box and laughed about it for years

Elmo, there's crosses made that can't mis. From my experience of breeding hounds very few are great. I'm talking about the crosses that produce several gr nts and all coon treers. The Daisy & Rebel cross is looking like one of the better type. Lots of similar blood in the Bella & Irene crosses.

I haven't put the last few hunts on here. Tim was up with his two gyps. I took Luke & John. We had a good hunt. Turnt loose 11 times, treed 7 coon, caught one, two den trees. One track that Mr Coon won. They ran it pretty good to a bean stubble field and made a loose and never finished it. Probably the worst I've seen them look on a track.

Matt Merrill was up for a hunt. We took Moe, Luke and Fancy. First deal Moe & Luke went 600 yds and returned. Next drop they ran and caught one in a big creek. Next turn we sent all three. They treed a coon at 450 yds. We sent them on where they went .62 and treed a coon. Next drop they struck quick, ran a good track 400 yds and treed a coon. Next drop they worked a bad track 250 yds and treed a large maple den tree. Last drop they went .6 mi. and treed a double. We sure enjoy watching the young hounds tree coon. We hunted on big creeks tonight, there's no water barking and track jacking.

Scott, I just returned home from the vets getting Bella bred. She belongs to Phil Vogel. A grand nt female sired by Malles Rattler x a Geronimo bred female. Should be some nice hounds from the cross.

I took Bella for progesterone 6 times. Normally 3 times gets the job done. Friday her level was 7 up from 3.4. Dr Willard said she needs bred Sunday. He was finishing up breeding a French bull dog when I got there. He is a very good vet. Phil told me she was bred naturally on the 17th day from first blood. Now we wait for pups. Dr Willard was preg checking heifers for me several years ago and broke his ankle with around 20 left to check. He finished them all before heading to the hospital. He's what one would call a country vet.

Phil told me the charges for 7 progestrone test, Sunday surgery and post surgery antibiotic for a few days was around $300. The results are what's important. Hate to report no pups but I will if that's the outcome.

They send it to a local lab, $23 each.

Hunted Luke alone tonight. Left the house a little after 8. First drop he went 3/4 of a mile so I decided to drive closer to him. He got treed while I was driving. Had a large oak with a coon 35 yds off the road. I pulled up 200 yards and sent him on up the creek. Treed a coon after working around for a few minutes 175 yds. Luke doesn't open on colder tracks. Next drop 350 yds and returned. Next drop he traveled right at 700 yds and treed a coon. He saw that one. Next drop went just over 400 yds & returned. Next deal he opened in the box as soon as I stoped. He opened three or four times probaly under a minute. Fell treed just under 200 yds. with two coon. Last drop opened one time around 100 yds and treed at 155 yds. with a coon. I sure hope running Luke in the corn gets him to opening more. I also hope with a little more age and hunting he goes until treed every drop. Headed home at 11: 10. Coon were moving good.

Bobby Pollick & his wife was up from Oklahoma. We got out a little late but managed to make five turnouts. Treed a coon on every turnout.

Good Luck on the breeding Dennis. Hope everything works out. I am hoping to make it over to the Dave Dean hunt in a couple of weeks. Are you planning on coming up for that? It sounds as though you have been treeing a lot of coons. It is the same over here. I think with hide prices so low the hide hunters are all but gone around here at least.

Irene is getting a tummy on her. Looks to have pups in the oven. Tim & his buddy Scott was over to hunt. Like always we took the four mates. We had several turn outs and treed 5 trees with coon. The hounds had to go deep on three of the coon we treed. Like 950 yds to almost a mile. They put two in dirt holes and a den tree. The gyps had a slick tree & Fancy had two possums. She hadn't treed a possum in three months.

Ed Green & I took a little pleasure hunt. Ed has a nice young gyp & a sister to Luke & Fancy that hasn't been hunted but 4 or 5 times. I took Luke & Fancy. On a few turnouts the hounds looked real good but struggled on a couple. Ended up under a coon on every turnout. We treed six trees with coon and ran one several hundred yards to a big pond. By the time we got to the pond they had the coon stretched. I sure enjoy hunting with young hounds that tree coon.

Phil Davis & Larry Carlin was over for a hunt. Phil had Ziggy and a mate to Luke & Fancy. We sent Luke with Bonnie. They made three trees with coon. Fancy & Ziggy treed a couple den trees & a couple slick trees. Phil talked me out of Fancy and took her to Arkansas. Guess it's time to start hauling Fly, the Botox & Trudy gyp. She's old enough to start and big enough to keep up.
