Charlie I plan on working both Dottie and Witch in the hunts this spring. As for Mann he is schedueld for a checkup right after Christmas. Charlie looks like you have some young dogs cranking for you and Jeff? Gotta love the young ones, they sure keep the blood flowing in our veins!

The hounds and I have had some good hunting the past three nights. They have treed quite a few coons (16 singles), 4 dens, no holes and no slicks. Needless to say the hounds are not making to much noise in the pen durig the day Been doing a lot of solo dog hunting. I have liked what I have seen out of all three of my hounds during this. I usually dont gloat about a dogs performance, but thought I would give them some well deserved love. I know one thing, I am going to need to invest in a new coon light, my bright eyes is starting to wear down. Any suggestions?

This very cold snowy weather sucks coon testicles! Sorry just needed to vent! It has been hard to put otgether several good nights of hunting. I was really liking the mild winter's we have had over the past few years. The clock is ticking on our Mo. season that is for sure! I bet I have not hit 1/4 of my hunting places this season. Regardless the hounds are doing a good job in the woods and looking forward to my next hunt.

Still waiting on that next hunt. I thought I woul dbe able to squeeze a hunt in tonight beforre the north pole moved in tonight. But the wind is whipping, temp, dropping fast and the snow right across the river. I think I might start pouting like a little girl

Well the weather wont hardly cooperate so a fella is just going to have to hunt in what momma nature dishes I guess Hounds are doing well , treeing some coons in the snow and high winds. The big boars seem to be out looking..? Going ot try and hit it hard Friday and Saturday night and hopefully put some good quality time in the woods.

Elmo when the dogs have the chance to hunt they are doing a dman fine job. But I am going to tell you what, this weather has been hard on hunting constinely. Seems like you get one or two nights then out for a week. Shoot I have not went the past three nights because of 40 MPH wind gust! Now we have to deal with zub-zero temp's. I guess I have grown acustome to liking the mild winter weather So you have a new project eh, Kane is it? He is more than welcome on the Morton homestead. Elmo if the weather will cooperate this weekend maybe we can do a hunt where we dont have to worry about time. How is your leg coming along?

Well leg is still swollen and has even gotten bigger so I am going for a MRI today and then go from there

Elmo sounds like you are going to be laid up for a bit coming soon? I hope that they get you fixed up quickly my friend.

Hunted pretty hard this past Saturday night. We could only muster four coons on the outside before we called it a evening. (Whole bunch of dens) The hounds did tree a very large Mo. river coon. He was bobbed tailed and his hide stretched the length of tailgate. Glad he hit the ground dead. Very cold the first day or two of this week, not sure if the coons will move..doubt it. But sure would like to have the hounds under another 10 coons before midnite the 31st. Time will tell!

Hey Elmo, I would say a "great season" would be a stretch. The hounds did some damage when we had the chance to hit the woods. I was able to hunt a little more this year than I have over the past few. My boys are getting a little older so it is a little easier on the wife now when I want to skip out. Hey sure March would be a great time to bring Kane out Elmo. Right now would just flat suck for him. Hopefully by March we will be rid of some of the white stuff? Sorry about not returning your call. had my hands full the day you left a message and I have flat forgot to return the call since...sorry man! Elmo I need to get the address to the fur boys in Jamesport. I think I will dump the few hides I have on them if they are still taking? Did you head over their way?

Here is your fur buyer in Jamesport Mo. I believe he is still taking furs but I heard the price dropped a little.I guy I hunt with sold to him a couple weeks ago and avg.17.00 on 58 coons .My son I trap a little too and we scrape and dry our furs and send them to Canada.Good luck.

Elmo we do have a black lab/slash something that my wifes sister in the city pawned off on us. I am not sure if she will be another "Sissy dog". But she did tag along on a few hunts this winter. She knows what it is about and will flat get in on a good coon fight So ole`Kane will have someone to tag along with. My biggest worry around my place Elmo is timber! Between my farming neighbors and wood cutters they are whiping out the timber. I have lost , I would say close to 20 acres of timber around me the past six months. It flat looks like a bomb has been dropped in several places. It is very sad to say the least. But there is still enough around to educate a curious Breathless Blue!

Elmo once the ice melts a little you can bet I will burn some stored energy off the hound I believe I need to exert a little as well. Plan on thawing and brushing coons next week/preping to take up to Jamesport. It will be what is will be that is for sure. Plan on investing in a new light and purchasing some pet doors to put in my new shop in preperation for the new kennel setup. Hopefully we can make that happen.
I am curious if the coon are rutting, it is that time of year for our area? We should all find out farily quickly once we can hit the timber again. Elmo your ad looks good in the blue book, you have some nice hounds!
