I have been talking with some of my friends about how you have to be looking 2, 3, 4 generations down the road if you are wanting to insure that you can keep the same blood without constantly inbreeding. This can be a time consuming process but you have to add them all up. Something like this, well if I breed this dog to this one then I could breed to this one keep about the same blood and then turn around and breed back into this one, etc...
Eddie, you of course know all of this but it's like a good recipe, you need the right mix of all the right flavors that compliment each other to make a good one that doesn't have some off taste in it. For instance, an outcross is kind of like some of the things my dad has made. He just throws all kinds of things together alot of the time when he "cooks". Most of the time it's either pretty good or really bad with little inbetween. Where as if I have a good old recipe that taste great and is a joy to eat, everytime, then why would I want to change? I might change a few things but not much a little more of this a little less of that but overall the same good recipe, AKA linebreeding. Me I like consistancy and this cross you have going sure seems to be doing that. It's kind of like all the linebreeding, I was talking with you about, that I've been doing.

Steve, I find it real hard to fix something thats ((NOT BROKEN)) so I think I'll just keep breeding her back to Light'in everyone thats being hunted speak for themselfs,we had alot of people ask us to make the cross again, all I can say (((ITS WORKING))) dont want to take anything away or add to it.

I have a well know English man here & he said he had ((NEVER)) seen anything like it & they hunt some of the BEST !!!!! Josh Guffey hunted his pup the next night he had two first trees for sure maybe a 3rd on a 5 yr. ol dog.

Joshs pup is one thats 11 months ol.

Busy

I know how that goes for sure. We were supposed to take Jackie out last night. My wife decided she needed a new horse and mule and we were already moving my horse. Like so many things since this surgery I couldn't do much to help my wife out. So when something happens it just happens and there's not much way of making it go faster. O well guess I'll try to go Tues. I want to hunt Daisy again but with only a few days until the World Show I'm scared of her running her pads off again.

Making a run with Jackie

Well since I didn't get a chance to let the old girl stretch her legs this weekend I plan on taking her for a spin tonight. I want her to stay in good shape for her pups. One of my vertibra had slipped out of place but it appears to have gone back in. I'm sure glad I've got friends to handle the hounds for me and carry coons. Me not being able to lift over 25 lbs. ever again is sure going to mean alot of trips back to the truck to drop off coons though. Of course big hounds like my Dozer dog I will never be able to hunt on my own again. I would have gotten him to lead better when he was young if I would have known the trouble I was going to have.

Hey Steve, I know what your talking about ever since I had Open Heart Surgery Ive never been the same & plus I have back trouble also seems like I fell apart 7 yrs ago Im like you I need someone to help me with my dogs most guys that have the health trouble I have they have done hung there lights up or just sold out.

My buddy Chris has been here a week today working on several things for us he also hunted Sherman the last 6 nights & he looked pretty good he looked so good hes taking him a pup back home he will be owning 1/2 of him Chris hunts everynight who knows he may own 1/2 of Sherman before its over he 26 yrs ol & can really get threw the country & is a outstanding young man.

Hes one of the Big River Boys from down south his uncle won the UKC WLD.CH.SHIP in 1991 so he has alot of good back ground in him to train a dog they know how to get the best out of them,I think this pup will make a dandy its not scared of ANYTHING.

We still dont have no rain & it was bad dry when you were here.Things have gotten worst now alot of the creeks are drying up I dont remember it ever being this dry.

Hope you get better soon its tuff to be shut down at a early age I know.

Will talk to you later.

The Terrys

Well not so good of news for the World Show

Daisy is coming in to heat. I thought she looked like it was a maybe yesterday but I am positive now. This means no World Show for me or her. On the plus side this does mean we will soon have some very rare pups on the way from frozen semen, hopefully. I'm trying at this point to hurry and get another live stud lined up for sure in case the frozen stud is no good. I have a few in mind they are also from some Heavy Fireball blood.

Studs

My hope is to breed to frozen and the live Studs list is pretty short. I plan to do some more inquiring in the next few days to try and narrow the live ones down. The frozen pups are all sold and then some but the live stud pups I don't know yet. Alot of what happens with that, depends on what I breed her to and the cost I incur on that end. Once I breed her I will then know for sure what the price range on these would be. Unless she has a pile, like 8 or more, which is highly unlikely, the frozen ones at this time are all already spoken for.

Steve I have been to a lot of hunts in other states and they say we are going to be hunting in thickets tonihgt. When we get there all I can think is they just dont have a clue. Some ought to come down and take a look at a good ole South Arkansas 10- 15 yr old pine thicket or have to walk to the only tree in a 2-3yr old 300 acre clear cut.

You got that right

The other night the pine thicket went right up to the edge of the tree then we were on the creek with junk (vines, bushes, etc..) everywhere else at the tree. We had two spots where we could see pieces of the trees that were rammed together. Unless the coon got in an opening and came out for a clear look you wouldn't see him.

It's like one of my college friends who wanted to go hunting with me. He said he wanted to go coon hunting with me. I said sure. He had been hiking all over several states and said he was sure he could handle the thickets of Arkansas eventhough he had never been there after all the thick stuff he had been thru. Well about 15 mins. in to the hunt I here this ooooooooooooooo I look back and about 50 yds. behind is him with all four limbs spread out from the briars grabbing his arms and he couldn't move without them digging in deeper. When I went back to get him he said how in the world did you get thru there like that and I sure see why you work out in the gym all the time this stuff would kill a person who wasn't in good shape and he was a thin fella like me. I had to make a path big enough for a good fourwheeler to fit thru just to get him thru there. By the time we treed I barely got him to the dog and he swore he'd never go coonhunting again.

Had a fellow wanting to go with us yrs ago who had never been before. Cut dogs loose in nice section of woods, after about 45 min dogs tree. Walkin down old logging road we see3 or4 small cottonn mouths and this old boy got the dont want toos. Come to a clear cut that was about 6 yrs olg with old tops all in it. We start out crawling and see a king snake this fella jumps up and runs through this thicket. I go back to get him and he says You all can get me on the way back out. I tell him we may not come back this way.He tell me he will wait at the truck, so I make my way to the others at the tree. We decide to call it a night and start back to the truck a different way. When we get back to the truck this fellow is no where around. We go to halloring for him and he answers come get me. I go down the old road we walk in on and find him standing across a grass filled waterhole in the middle of the road. I ask him what was wrong, he said he had seen 3 snakes and the last one went in that water hole. He was only about 30 yrds from whre I left him. When we got back to the truck one of the other fellas ask him what he thouht about coon huntin. He said you all are about the craziest a$$$holes he had ever seen and you could bet he would never go coon huntin again.

Thickets

I love a good race in a pine thicket! let you know real quick what kind of hound you have, as for our hunting conditions go, Id say it is about as rough as anywhere when you figure in all the snakes! But trust me I will bust these south Arkansas thickets all year long and be thankful I dont live north of Little Rock! Those hills kill me.lol I hear a rumor that a FIREBALL male is come'n to town here in Arkansas next week. Yall take care.

Was runnin around the cabin and went and treed a coon a couple weeks ago. Opened on the trail, ran it a little ways and bang, had a nice coon up. Went bear hunting with some other peoples dogs last weekend and didnt tree anything. Glad we have good dogs, makes for a crappy weekend not having a bear in the air. We went from not having any kill tags, to having 5 to fill for other people now. Its going to be a busy couple weeks. Take care.

Sounds Good to me

I finally got my hands on a coon that was eating this guys dog food at his house. Took it out to the pups, I kept, and they went crazy barking at him, treeing too. Looks like I'm getting everything together for a super nice litter. Got a veterianary clinic lined up that does nothing but repro. work in dogs and cats. Working on getting the frozen semen in now. Daisy hasn't got to long and I should have some super line bred pups on the way. I am hoping for a big litter. I could sure find more homes for this cross than she could ever have.

Hog hunt

I still want to come in December and hunt hogs. I am picking up a Blue dog for a friend from Wilburn Uchtman in December also. Ive Emailed Preston about the hog hunt a couple times but dont get a answer. If he doesnt want to chase hogs, thats fine. Ill be pretty close to your place anyway and will stop by and go for a coonhunt. We can talk about Dozer or if you want to talk sooner Email me. Kid Rock is bigger than Rock (my brothers Redbone in the house). He has grown like a weed and is so smart. Everybody loves him and we get compliments from everyone who sees him. His voice is so loud and impressive. These Redbones are doing a fanastic job on bear and since the start of kill season weve put up 20 bear. Nobody shot any yet. Everyone is using their kill tags to keep running the dogs. Once they use a kill tag, you are done running your dogs unless you know someone who has one. When will Daisy be due ?The pups should go fast and you will probably have a big waiting list. Take care

Glad to here things are going well

Yeah one things for sure the male hounds I have aren't small. Some people like small dogs. I have just been breeding for good hunting hounds but have had some good luck on looks and have ended up with a pretty big sized hound in the process. If he is still in good shape I'd like to show him at some of the Redbone Days, etc.. if you are there, in the coming years.

I talked with the frozen Nitro. guy for Ark.

He gave me the name to a place here that uses more Nitro. than anyone else by far. Surgical/ Transcervical, etc... A.I. along with repro. issue surgery is all they do. I looked at some other places that do some of this on the side, like the one Ball uses, but this one and one up around Tulsa, that is all they do. I figured if I was doing this I wanted ones that specialize in it and have been around long enough to know how to use the older stuff. From my inquiries with the newer semen several of the clinics are having fairly good numbers with the newer semen but this older stuff is different and definately something from 12 years ago is different than the stuff put out now. So these pups will actually be even rarer than I realized. Not only will they be gentically like they are pups from Fireball, around 25 years ago, but their dad is a hound that has been gone now for over 10 years himself. This clinic said they actually liked to use the older stuff because that is what they are the most familiar with. I feel pretty confident in their skills and we will be able to test several batches of semen without wasting any of it once we go to put it in her. It just strange to me that so many different people have small amounts of this here and there but no one knows if it's any good. Hopefully, that will get cleared up for the most part in the next week or so. Once everything is tested and it is done 100% as best as it can be.

Taking her up.

Well looks like I'm taking Daisy up today. The clinic is open until 7:30 which will give me time to get up there after school. Perfect timing as she has just stopped bleeding. Things are going smooth so far hopefully, it stays that way. With the breeding that this is mixing together this is the best we, as humans, could do other than to clone something in order to bring back, this old of blood. Wonder is UKC would take a clone in registration? I know some horses have already been cloned successfully. I helped pulled one of those.

Hello

Steve. Kid Rock is rigging on bear now. Besides barking while rigging, he is throwing in a growl. He doesnt like them bear. Im having Mikes wife work on him with benching and want to enter him in a bench show or 2 this winter along with Annie. His feet are getting bigger, but not overly large. The size of the feet never bothered me like they due some people. Not all dogs are created equal. Preston got ahold of me and it was good to hear from him. Figured he was real busy and glad things are OK with him. Sounds like you have a ways to go with your neck. Dont overdue it. I do plan on coming this winter as long as my back or neck doesnt need operated on. I can no longer pick up a magazine and read it without my arm going to sleep. We have had trouble with other hunters this year and I put a article about it in the big game section. Ill be bowhunting and duck hunting this week trying to bag that monster buck. Have a 12-14 pointer running around the farm. Im going to wait till after the rut to try and get him so he can breed a few does. Ill be trying for a doe until then. You will have to let me know who you bred Daisy with. Let me know about dozer also.

Rigging already

Sounds like he's clicking right along. I'm sure interested to see how the rest of them do once coon kill season is on. Wish you luck in showing him to. He should finish out pretty quick in that I bet. You might have to try and sneak in some coonhunting on your brother. I know how he appreciates the bear hounds running coon. Hope to see you this fall or winter but I sure understand about the injuries. I'll try to call within the week or so about Dozer, so we can talk about him.

Surgery is done

Well just found out they are done with the surgery and Daisy is now filled with 12 year old Brown's Oklahoma Twister semen. The motility was 40% which is very good for semen that is 12 years old and was frozen using some older methods. We should have some Twister/ Fireball pups on the way!
This will be the first time that pups that are genetically like Fireball have been around for about 25 years and about 12 years for Twister. They were bred tight to get this as you can imagine. I'd like to thank all those that have helped make this happen and we should know before to long how many are on the way.
