MAN OH MAN WILL OLD LIGHTNIN GO HUNTIN BUDDY!!!! thats all i can say. 1st drod he went over half a mile and got struck but i had to catch him at a paved road so he didnt cross it cause i didnt want him goin that way so picked him up. 2nd drop he got treeed1.5 miles from were i cut him loose!! i drove around and got closer walked in to him it was a den that sucked . dont think they were movein real well here lastnight. jed went a long ways also and never pulled a bark. lightnin will not return to were you cut him so you better know whats on the other side of the woods you put him in if coons aint movein. i will now be looken for some smaller sections to put him in ed cause he can show you new huntin groudns around her if you aint carefull!! its our deer season here and all the city hunters are up around here (they own most of the land) and i dont want any problems so i gotta hunt state land and its been pounded. oh well i hope the weather hold out a while so i can get fay out some more. todd

one last nite along with several den trees. Got out too late. Tonite its supposed to be 40mph winds so it looks like I may not get out tonite. I went to batteries plus and they put new batteries in my Wick lite. It lasted over 10 years.They only charged 90 bucks. Several people brought in deer heads to be mounted and I wish they wouldnt cape them theirself. Some seem to mess it up pretty good. Im the lowest priced around and they want placks put on for free. I have 2 pups to deliver on the way down also. My brother goes to the hospital Wed. to have 90% of his stomach removed and I pray all goes well. If something goes wrong I wont make it to your house but I sure hope everything goes good. This is his first operation and he is very nervous. His wife told him to just talk to me since Ive had quite a few.lol If you could through in a prayer for him that would be great. Mike and I spent alot of time together over our lifetime hunting together. Hes 2 years younger and we always watched out for each other and our familys. I got in a few fights when we were younger so he wouldnt have to. lol I always enjoyed that.lol Im going to bring a dog or 2 along to have a good time but not to compare or compete against yours.lol Mine are just dogs that get lucky sometimes and I really like them. Take care and will see you next week barring anything going wrong tommorrow.

That's about all I needed to see that and that he'd bark plenty on track. I had heard all I needed to know about him otherwise. He did everything as a hound should. At least for what I was looking for. Down here if a hound just hangs around then you're sure not going to win much. Some places have enough coon that you can make a GrNt out of something that you could never win a hunt with down here without hunting it in some special spot in your backyard or something. But the ones I keep around and Lightnin and Rock are the same will go hunting until they find one and that's what I want.
Dave hate to here about your brother will be praying for him for sure.

Im just waiting to go see my brother after his operation and got a Email from a friend who just got back from lion hunting. Heres a pic of a cat they took. Its a nice cat He hunts Plotts which are top notch. My brother owns a female from his line and she trees alot of bear by herself every year. This guy and his bunch hunt as hard as anyone Ive ever known and his dogs are better behaved than any Ive ever seen. He starts working them at 6-8 weeks and he opens up his box and they jump on the tailgate one at a time waiting to be collared. His dogs are the kind that will have you thinking about adding Plotts to pack or switching breeds. He turned a friend of mine from hunting Blues to hunting his line of Plotts. They are that good. Bear,cat or lion, it doesnt matter they are tops. It wasnt too windy last nite and I took just the 2 pups. Got out after 8 and ended up treeing 3. I wish I wouldnt have left any back and wont no more. It got to be about 20 degrees and the colder it gets the more my Jabo pup shines. Im hoping everything goes good with the operation today and everything turns out good in the long run. You are right God is the greatest healer and can turn the bad into the good. I am proof that he can do miracle work. I should have been dead several times and the doctors told me it was a miracle I was alive. He will turn a miserable life into a good one. Will talk to you later and take care.

Everything went well with the operation but nothing has gone good after. They couldnt wake Mike up and he ended up in recovery for over 6 hours. They were supposed to get him up but couldnt. He had breathing problems and a couple other issues. Im headed up there this afternoon to see how he is progressing. I did get out hunting last nite and took 3. Made 6 trees with 3 being den trees. The first tree was in 3 feet of water and of course I didnt have hip boots. I let the pups finish off one of the coon. 2 pups discovered what deer were and did a good job running it.(lol) i figured it was just a matter of time before they ran one. They never payed any attention to them before. Im taking care of the kennels while my brother gets better. He will be in the hospital for awhile but hopefully not too long. He lives 30 miles from me and I usually hunt near there anyway. Ended up hunting in snow and rain mix and it got chilly after getting all wet.lol I still plan on coming down but it might be just a few days later than I planned. I will let you know how things turn out here. I will be there though and it will be shortly. Gotta run as I have 2 more deer to cape out and then off to see my brother.
