Hi Everyone!

Just getting on here now... long day. Did get a nice LONG nap in
Was about 49 first thing and the RAIN had stopped... so Web and I had a GREAT walk. Noticed one of the new neighbors chickens is beginning to do a baby rooster crow! Our walk goes behind there house... made me smile since I only have 1 rooster left... and I will miss them... hoping they keep him and don't eat him so I can hear him crow! Web got a special treat this aftn when his little cur dawg girlfriend came over... and it wasn't raining still so they ran and played and played and Zzzzzzzzzzzzzz he's sound asleep now!

Will look at your pix later on Johnny, after I finish catching up on here... look forward to seeing em! Well... since THIS site was down I went ahead and looked at the pix. Awesome and LOVED the last one!

Heather

Hmm.. Thanksgiving dinner will be at Bob's aunts... we'll have turkey with all the normal Northern trimmings... and then on the weekend Bob and I will make "Pesto Turkey" to bring to my Mums house... with Broccoli and potatos cooked with. And we'll make praline yams YUM! and Bob will do pumpkin pie too....

Pesto Turkey

Pesto is a garlic basil pasta sauce... no tomatoes... just the basil and garlic and nuts and some olive oil... and parmesan cheese if you like it too... We will bone a turkey(this time the BUTCHER will...LOL... My hands hurt too much from the last. Then we will bake it in pesto and add the taters and broccoli as it cooks... It is delicious that way and ended up a big hit with the family. We do Pesto chicken and PORK too.. Bob makes a Mean Pesto and this yr grew his own basil for the first time...so it was a BIG deal!
Yum I'm hungry.......... Heather

Morning everyone! Nice clear 42 here this morning. Not a leaf moving on a tree. Lots of em on the ground however.

Saw a pair of Gray Foxes crossing the road going over to our place this morning as we walked back home.

As far as missing persons, it's not really that hard to check in once in a while if a person really has the inclination.

Dang that sounds dangerous up in them mountains! You'd be in deep trouble gettin blown off a mountain top I would think. I guess a wind like that could blow the feathers off a Wild Turkey and that would be a help gettin' him ready to eat. . I think we can kill a gobbler in the spring season that lasts a couple of months. We have a pretty healthy population right now I think. I don't know how long that will last though since the timber industy is destroying the habitat day by day.

We ended up with .7 here at home. Some places in our general area got as much as two inches according to the Columbus weather. We have been short-changed a lot this year.

Looking at the radar, I would have thought you got more than me. But then again, the radar dont mean it is hitting the ground. Some got as much as 3 inches around me. And yes we have been short changed on the rain this year.

Hi Everyrone!

WOW... I'm early yet! LOL... BUT... I'll be snoozing soon I bet. Was a damp AM... bout 60 though! Went for a nice but wet walk. ONE of us decided to jump a puddle... the OTHER one of us went thru it...since it sure LOOKED shallow... It went over ONE of our boots and filled it....LOL... I think Webster actually LAUGHED at me... Luckily it was the END of the walk. Not a creature stirring out there... Bit windy but not so bad here. DID get a middle of the night text(saw it this morning) from a friend in SC who had some wicked winds blowing....
the pesto turkey is really totally awesome BUT... it does NOT make a substitute for traditional turkey dinner. THAT is why I look forward so much to going to Bob's aunts and having it the "normal" way. My mum will have it traditional at my sisters but we can't make that gathering... so for all of us the pesto turkey will be a second act. It really is good BUT... on Thanksgiving day... I look forward to the PECAN pie Aunt Maddie will make for herself and me... everyone else will eat HUGE pieces of all sorts of other pies... and she and I will hold out for the pecan pie! YUM!!! And the mashed taters aren't too bad there(no one makes em like my sister Martha though)... and there will be butternut squash and... YUM! My tummy is growling again! lol....
Heather

Yep, you are right on it this morning Miss Feather! Well honestly a big ole juicy HEN is tastier than a Turkey but that ain't what is traditional! There are better ways of doing turkey so it is not so dry I know. We haven't had a big Thanksgiving feast here at home in many years now. Always get envited to the ones the other family members throw and they do all the hard work.
