Dragon didn't have a good hunt tonight. Back a dog on a possum so he found out what my possum 101 is all about and he will think twice before he does it again I hope. I know he is only 9 months old but he will learn that I don't like possum.
Oh well that is part f training a pup you have to take the good with the bad.

How are the pups doing off Ruckus? They should be growing up nicely.
I've not been doing anything for the past few weeks really. Now we have lots of cold and snow so all dogs are getting fat.
Dragon is doing well. I will test his skills soon. He is enough treedog and track dog so we shall see. I won't push him hard but if he does what I have seen. Well just time will tell. I will be taking him to Eldon Iowa for Grand Nationals all three nights. He is young so who knows. I bought him to compete with and that is what he will get to do.

He struck in at 225 yards and worked and worked a track to 600 yards and treed in a big cotton wood. I couldn't find the coon so I lead him away. Of course I look back and there the coon was in a fork of the tree with just his back showing. He refused to look then finally he just had to take a peak.
Next dump we got in a water way and I knew where that one was going in a hole. I've ran him a few times.
I called it a night.
Dragon is getting his ducks in a row. This is the happiest dog I have seen and not afraid of anything or just doesn't care. He didn't cross the water the other night which surprised me. He is normally like a duck so who knows what a young dog is thinking. I can't complain on a 11 month old dog that has been treeing his own coon since 6 months old. Just always something to work one and this is why we hunt.

We didn't do any good. I seen some good things out of him and he even got off to himself but I rush on getting him on the paper to leash lock the others and it cost me because he wasn't sure. We did get under two coons. He treed straight up with toenails in the wood. Dragon did back a dog on a possum in a log which cost me more points but nothing I could do about that. I'd say he did OK for his test hunt so now I know what to work out and what to not call. 11 months old now and I'd say he will do his fair share of yellow slips this year. Time will tell I do believe he likes to compete. A friend of mine won the cast with his 2 year old Walker male. Jeff is a hard hunter and know how to get the hound right.

Dragon's wins will come. He is young and full of fire. He wants to compete on a high level every turnout and not afraid to go another direction with a track and is a whale of a treedog. I like what I see out of him so far. He was pushed a little at the tree and he stayed put and treed harder. If they leave there is no plus points for leaving.
Matt it was a good cross. Let me get my leg worked on and back up to where I can hunt two hours and I will try to put a lot of wins on him.

He is getting now where I have to drag him off his tree. I like it! His locate is on point and he has a coon a very high percentage of the time. When he is treed alone His percentage is even higher.
I took him last night and he had to work for his coon on a old feed track with cutover and when he did get him bushed it was no doubt you were going to see a coon. He makes a racket at the tree at times you think there is two dogs treed with him. If his is just standing he is every breath chop on tree. If he is bouncing its bawl squall chop scream.
Once I get my leg fix I will be back at the hunts.

Looks like Cotton is a reproducing female. This pups is a half brother to Ruger and a half brother to Dragon and Chief. Looks like it's in the blood.
What I'm learning about this RC X Jenny x Rambo s Hornet crosses they are early starters.

U.S. cotton has always thrown some real nice pups. I know nothing about hornet bred dogs, but that's the normal with rc/Jenny bred dogs. Believe them suckers are treeing in their mommas belly.. Lol

What does Tony Clevenger have these days. Has he bred his Ruckus dog anymore?
What did you keep out of that cross on Ruckus? Have you heard any good news on Dragon's littermate brothers and sisters. Is any being put in the hunts. I know they are young at 13 months old but I bet they will compete for first and first every turn out.
I will give Dragon his just due. I'm going to try to finish Maggie to Dual Grand first but it's hard for me not to take him to a hunt so if I can find a handler for Maggie THEN Dragon will get a lot of rides to town and see what we can get done. He is such a friendly dog and just is so happy go lucky. We he smells coon he is totally different and looks like he will stay treed when he is pushed around on the tree. Not a mean hair on him at this point.

Elmo and Matt
My son has the littermate sister to Dragon. We got her from Matt at 7 months age. She was Matts pick. I think he called her Pepsi but my son changed her name to Jazz. She was started and done all that Matt said. She ran and treed all season with his old pup trainer. She would sometimes strike and tree first. After season he started singling out to get her hunting out better by herself and gain more confidence. She will tree alone also and is starting to wind or lay up. She is not as far along as dragon butt Matt told us up front the females would start a little later. We have a low coon population here so its not easy any more. But he is out of college for the summer and roastnear season is around the corner. Hope to be ready for hunts this fall. We have dealt with Matt before and he is a class act. We are well pleased with our RC/Jenny dogs. Kenneth

Who is River or do you mean Ruger?

So Dragon and Chief will have some younger bothers and sisters. What have you heard on the female off this cross. I know the males are early starters bold, loud and have the tree power. They are good looking suckers as well.
Do you have any plans on finishing Cotton to Grand Nite? How old is she now?

How is Cotton looking. Do you think she took. How are the pups doing off of Ruckus x Cotton? Any pictures of them.

I need one more win on Maggie the Tree Dragon will get his chance to see what he is made of. I will just be taking him to the Fall Round Up in Oct.

Ya she is getting fat. Pups off her and ruckus about the same as ruger and cotton. Guy name Ott Sizemore has two that are doing great. He post videos of them all the time treed with the meat alone and with company. Mine has never been hunted but she broke loose one night with my other female and was split with a coon. Guy in NC just started his 6th night out she treed a single alone. That's all I'm aware of at the moment. Ain't bad for a bunch of pups
