Good night

I took my boy and the Jabo pups out for a spin tonight.

The pups went about 600yards before the struck in and the scalded the track to a bad thicket that had grown over a hog fence. They were bayed up there at the fence and trying to find a way around it. Problem was.....there really wasn't for a pretty good bit. I even left Zavier with the dogs and tried to find / beat a path.....yeah....that wasn't happening.

Jo-Ann did a fine job on the track and did a pretty good job of baying up where she thought it was. Jack did an alright job as well. He was a bit more concerned with finding a way to it, but he did a fine job of taking that pup hunting.

All in all a good night. Two good Red pups and got to take my 5year old son to the timber.

Got off the phone with UKC earlier today.

I would like to say Congratulations to Larry Stringer on his newly titled pup:

CH 'PR' Stringer's Hillbilly Jo-Ann

Jo-Ann earned her title with two best of shows under two different judges and all of her points (4 shows) came from 4 different Judges. She did this by 9 months old, she just turned 9months on the 23rd of March.

Good Job Kent. That is a great feat that you accomplished with her.
When he took her to his house she was so skidish that you couldn't put a hand on her at all. And then now 3 months later she finished out to CH. That says alot about Kent's dedication to these jabo pups.

Congrats ole buddy.
On your way to GrCh now.

another jabo pup [ hammer ]

this pup run loose his entire life, [ now 7 months old ], had never been hauled, had never been around strangers, had never been out at night, had never been put in strange country. i picked this pup up , forced him in a box for the first hunting trip of his life, drove another hour up the road, got him out with strange dogs all around him, collared him up, and cut him loose. strange place, first hunt, strange dogs, strange people. the older dogs struck in and run a coon red hot and treed about 100 yards below us and fell treed. smoking hot track. this pup ran into the dogs and was at the tree when i got there. i tied my reba female back and noticed this pup winding and working around on the ground. all of a sudden he climbs up on the tree smells around and latches it back. i was amazed, but the big test for sufficient go power will be next. got a pick of him.

Great looking dog! But i am not surprised even a little that he is doing so good so young. That Jabo threw some good stuff into the pups. These jabo pups are amazing. Ill be by Larrys for Redbone days with my young Jabo dog Chief. I have not seen a pup out of him didnt have good looks. I think people waited too long to get a peice of Jabo and really missed out on having a special dog. And I think Kent has himself a stud dog for show and go! Good job Kent. This is my favorite pic of Chief.

Davecat and Chief

David, thanks for the kind words on ole Jabo. he is sorely missed in more ways than one. Chief has a couple of real good littermates that Kent and i are hauling around. it seems to have been a good cross so far. and yes that is a good pic of chief. by the way, what is the wing span on them ears. lol. soo. is it true the longer the ears the colder the nose. just checking. i'll be talking at you bud. LWS.

29 March 2012

Had a good night in the timber tonight. Cut the pups loose and they ended up about 800 yards from where we unsnapped them.

Jack opened up first and then Jo-Ann took to giving it a good amount of mouth. They pushed it on, it was a fairly cold track, and ended up treed in a den tree with a good size hole in the top.

Jack did a good job treeing and Jo-Ann is getting closer to having the full package all the time. If we get a caged coon to cut a loose.....it will be on.

Here are some pics from tonight....Jo-Ann wasn't feeling very photogenic tonight.

And my favorite of tonight

Jack and Jo-Ann Both won. Jack won the Champion class male and Jo-Ann won the Champion class female.

Jack hunted out good, but it was a rough night across the board. Only one cast out of 5 saw a coon. We went to two trees that were slick and Jack wanted nothing to do with it at all. So good job Jack on that, but he never got treed tonight. Oh well.
