There has been a real good reproducing female bred to Smoke and several more booked to be bred, I can't wait to see the young dogs out of him start showing up in the winners circle. He should reproduce pups that will look good on the hard wood and the ply wood. Don't wait to long, dogs don't live forever!........Tim

We are planning on spliting the hunt. Timmy will hunt one night and I will the other.
Timmy took Smoke to the vet and after X-rays and exam they decided he must have just poked something in his foot. Put him on antibiotic's for the next seven days and he should be ok. His foot is still swelled twice the normal size.

NtCh Mad Dog Little Lou is comming in heat. Hope it's not a false heat because we have a Red Healer in heat next to her. We will beed Lou to Smoke either way and just wait to see if its the real deal. I hope this cross produces the next generation to carry on in their momma and daddy's foot steps. Coon dog to coon dog out of proven reproducers.

past couple of nights hasn't been the greatest but they are getting the job done.
Timmy and Brownie hunted night before last and got a few treed. Tracking was rough at times but they put up a litter of coons in a cedar tree.
Last night I hunted Robin by herself. First dump she stood on her head and I decided to just make her hunt it out. She taped 5 different trees and finaly ended up on one she liked. She treed on a mulberry tree and it was matted over and I couldn't find a coon. As I was leading her away I looked back and caught his eyes out around 40yrds. Turned her loose and she pounded on an old cold track for a little while and shut up and decided to get out of dodge. She ran up a ditch for over a 1/4mi. before she struck and took off up through the wide open. I could have swore she was running her first deer but when I got to the top of the hill I saw the coon circle a pond dam and she was right on top of it. She made a lose and picked it back up and treed another 1/4mi. in some big timber. Big hackaberry with mulberrys all around it and had a litter of 4 kittens and the sow. Ended on a good note.
Smoke is doing a little better, his foot is still swelled up but he is walking on it. He should be back to hunting by the first of the week.
Lou must have been in false heat, last night she wasn't swelled and hated Smoke.

got the NtCh win last night at Clinton, Mo. Timmy said she had one by herself and part of two. He was happy with her getting in deep by herself.
I will hunt her tonight at Clinton.
Smoke is better, the swelling is going down. He should be fine by next week.

last night. Coon weren't moving early and we only treed two coon all night. Robin had a first strike and first tree and about 3 minutes into it a another dog came in and covered her. They treed about 1 more minute and they either pulled the coon out of a hollow tree (8 ft snag) or the coon decided to bail. Anyway they blew by us at a 100 and had a super hot track for a little while. All of this happened 50yrds in front of us. The rest of the night wasn't any better.

is back in the game. His foot looks good and he seems to be ok. We will try him out tonight.
Doctoring Robin with antibiotics right now also. Found where she had a punture in her chest and it was infected. Not bad and a long way from her heart. We can still hunt her.
Caught a couple of coon in a live trap and going to work Lacey and Diesel tonight also.

I have a new project comming on, Mad Dog Lockdown Lacey (GNTCH Turk X GNTCH Lucy). Lacey is only 5 months old but crazy over a caged coon. She will run a turned loose track and tree it. We will start taking her on a few hunts this summer.

Barley has it all, super good looks and a natural desire to run and tree. He reminds me of his older brother Lincoln that died last winter. Once you get all that desire harnesed Barley should be tough to beat. Keep him in the timber and let mother nature do her thing. Keep me posted on his progress. For a year old pup he is on the right track.

Larry and John Carlin came up for a hunt last night.
First dump we cut Smoke and their grand night female. They worked a cold track and split up with Smoke comming back across the road and treed a coon close to us. Their female got in a quarter or so and treed in a mulberry but we couldn't find the coon. Next dump we turned loose in some corn that is just about to make, right on top of two deer that acted like pets, and both dogs struck quick and moved up the creek about 200 yards and treed two coon in a mulberry. Then we made the proverbial last drop with Robin down on the river. THAT WAS A MISTAKE! She went about 400 yards befor she opened and worked a bad ole cold track back and forth across the river and lived up to her bluetick name and boo hooed around for ever. Caught her and went home.

Had fun hunting with Larry and John. Considering the heat the dogs worked great. Of course we took Danny along for comic relief. Listening to him always makes for a fun night.
We got in at about 3:00 in the morning and Timmy and I both were up at 6:00 for work. So last night I stayed in which wasn't a bad thing in this heat. Want to go tonight if the temps will drop just a little.
