Tuff little dude.

Well Daisy decided to go ahead and pull her bandages off her feet yesterday. She still has no pads, on a good portion of her feet, but is walking around close to normal just a little lighter stepping. I do believe I am going to be able to show her even though her feet are messed up. She's tuff for sure. Like I said it wasn't until she was pretty bad I even knew anything was going on.

Another son of Fireball original of NtCh GrCh Fireball II

He was a full brother to GrNtCh GrCh Pipkin's Rooster hound.
I can't wait to find all my old adds. Of Fireball sons. I have them all in a book from back in the day. I originally had a plan to breed to every Fireball son I could and then cross them back. I realized though due to time that probably wasn't going to happen so I went to doing research on who the two best producing sons were. Well the research paid off becuase when the historical reproducers list came out the two I bred to were the top reproducers.

Loving the pup

She is all into everything. I sure have to keep an eye on her and she is sure loud. I've had her out here at my wife's parents farm. Her and the baby goat they are bottle feeding are best friends. She kept tracking people up all day and showing up when you didn't realize she was even around. She has some grit for sure to. She was holding her own against my wife's two wiene dogs.

Lightin

He sure looked nice this weekend and I found out about several that had been hunting with this hound or had pups out of him that I didn't know about. All of these seemed to be starting pretty early to. He got in the timber without any encouragement, got struck, opened on track accordingly, pushed the track good, and came treed hard when he got to the end of it. The coons seemed to have moved right around dark becuause I was so wore out from driving we didn't get out there until a good bit after dark. The first drop he took off with his head in the air, struck one pretty close dropped around and came treed pretty quick. Second drop we sent him in from about 200 yds., out in a field. He swung around to the right and worked another bad track to the left, moved it quick and came treed. He was opening all the way on the track and came treed, like the rest, steady spitting them out. Last drop he struck right near us again as we were trying to get to the woods. By now these tracks were getting very cold. He didn't open as much on track but was what I would expect for such a nasty track, still nothing near the 5 min. range even though. Then he came treed I wanted to see what he would do on such a cold tree and after making him sure enough wait at the tree he was treeing harder if possible on that cold tree than the other two. Truley a slobber mouth tree dog when we got to him. Needless to say I really liked what I saw. If this dog had a handler that really hunted him and knew him I think this dude could be tuff. This is coming from me when I have seen some of the top hounds there have been go, Like Sandy Creek, Hattie, Timber Knockin Tex, Timber Choppin Dan, etc.. and of course my Jackpot Jackie. This cross I think could be very likely.

Find me a nice wide open spot.

If you have a place I can turn one loose so if they get out of pocket they will be ok then I'll probably bring my Daisy female and Jackpot Jackie. Both of them will hunt so deep though I need plenty of room to turn them loose.

Photo

The guy on the far right in the photo of Fireball III in 1993 is Randy Roberts one of the best guys you will ever meet. He is a great handler but he has been out of hunting for awhile now. I wish I could get him back into the sport.
Randy got a young hound from me back in 1990 he named Roberts Bones II. Bones made one of the greats he is one of the hightest money winning reddogs todate. Bones made NTCH in three hunts, all first places and in one weeks time. I am not sure how many hunts it took to make GRNTCH but it was'nt many.
Joe Pipkins bought half of ole bones from Randy and the show was on from there. Bones and Randy were winners for sure and I miss them in our sport.

Bones

I talked to another guy last night that said he had seen Bones go. He said he was a real nice hound too. I've had several conversations with people lately about all those who used to be around that you don't see anymore many of whom were really on there game back in the day, in the Redbone breed. So many say I'm just getting out for a little while and then they never come back, going to college, etc.. I think that is one of the reasons so many people were surprised to see me come back. Especially, after Iraq and college it really takes determination to get back into all this. However, that whole time for me the Good Lord and coonhunting is what gave me the motivation to push through it all. I couldn't wait to get back but knew I needed finish the rest first. So many have never came back and many of those it would sure be nice to have back around.

Hows that pup doing ???

She's doing great. She isn't scared of anything. I have to keep and eye on her she'll just jump off stuff, climb anything, etc.. and never misses a lick, just keeps on a trucking. Went to the VA the other day and got released but I am still not supposed to lift over 5 lbs. for another 3 months and they told me nothing more than about 25lbs from now on. O well I can still walk and my dogs i hunt lead well so I can still walk the woods.

Made another round

Well took Jackie out again last night Daisy had no problem keeping up with her. Coons weren't really moving Jackie got in pretty deep had a big boar across a little swamp. It's getting pretty easy for me to tell what she's doing now. For sure Late Winter/ Early Spring she'll get rolled back out to stretch her legs for some bigger hunts and the World. I plan to run her one last time in that just to give it a try.

Atomic Fireball's Twisted Sister?

I think this is what I am going to call her Eddie unless you know of someone else who has one from this cross named Twisted Sister.
This is her moma's side plenty of Fireball III in there along with several other good Fireball hounds. Add the mix of all the Twister and Ace blood from Lightin and no wonder they are doing what they are in the woods.

Steve, I dont know of any with the name so that sounds good to me. I might breed her to WLD.CH. Timber Choppen Dan Seman the next time Josh wants to breed her to it & I think it would work it would be line breeding so you have something to tie it back to I think I'll bred her two more times one would be to Light'in again or THE ROCK after shes been bred to Dan if I go that way only time will tell.

Good Luck With Twisted Sister.

Fireball's Crimson Tide

Here he is again. Emily just sent me some more pics of him. These pups are really growing. Looks like he's going to be a pretty big boy too. I'm sure interested to see how he does for Emily this Fall.
These pups have sure got some tongues, like the rest of my dogs. As you know that's a big part of how a hound cools down and I think is one of the reasons that so many of this line can go like they can in the heat.
A nice built hound as you can see.

Old stuff

Well looks like I've got some older studs and semen that I'll be trying to hook up Daisy with. Some of the semen we are not sure as to the viability of it. So as a back up I plan to have a few choice older studs lined up to breed her to just incase the frozen semen isn't usable. The methods that some of this stuff was stored under is not as good as what we now have. With it being rarer stuff this means that a lot of it has not been unthawed anytime soon to know what kind of shape it is in.
I want to get these pups out as quick as possible so I don't have to worry about loosing her blood. She will finish quickly once I have these litters I can guarantee that but a hound has to be fine tuned for the hunts no matter the natural ability, if you want to win 80-90 % or better of the cast you enter, like I was doing before.

Steve we hunted a litter mate to your little gip lastnight hes off the first cross he sure looked good to be laided up most of the summer.

Sherman will prove himself as he gets a little older I will put a handler on him I think I have already found one in PA, if you get back I would sure like you to go with him he can tell you how it is he will speak for himself I DONT need to BLOW SMOKE !!!!!

We wish you the very best with Twisted Sister she is from a long line of COONDOGS the more I see these pups go off this cross the better I like them.

Thanks for your time & Good Hunting Steve !!!!!

Speed Queen

With what I am seeing I could understand wanting to breed her to other studs but with the way these pups are turning out I don't know but what I might just keep doing the same cross until she can't have anymore. Her and Lightin are sure puting out the right stuff. Of course I can also understand not wanting to back yourself into a corner, in breeding.
I have been talking with some of my friends about how you have to be looking 2, 3, 4 generations down the road if you are wanting to insure that you can keep the same blood without constantly inbreeding. This can be a time consuming process but you have to add them all up. Something like this, well if I breed this dog to this one then I could breed to this one keep about the same blood and then turn around and breed back into this one, etc...
Eddie, you of course know all of this but it's like a good recipe, you need the right mix of all the right flavors that compliment each other to make a good one that doesn't have some off taste in it. For instance, an outcross is kind of like some of the things my dad has made. He just throws all kinds of things together alot of the time when he "cooks". Most of the time it's either pretty good or really bad with little inbetween. Where as if I have a good old recipe that taste great and is a joy to eat, everytime, then why would I want to change? I might change a few things but not much a little more of this a little less of that but overall the same good recipe, AKA linebreeding. Me I like consistancy and this cross you have going sure seems to be doing that. It's kind of like all the linebreeding, I was talking with you about, that I've been doing.

That's great

Glad to here she keeps getting after them up there. One things for sure these pups have seen a good number of hard hunters behind them.
