I was hunting one night with a friend. The dogs had gotten out the back side of the woods and crossed a road into another wood lot. We went around and parked at a gate with a field road going down the side of the woods and walk in and got the dogs and had walked back out to the truck. It was 2 in the morning and we were done for the night. As we are standing there taking our equipment off I here something large coming out of a tree right in front of us. I shined my light and a guy was climbing down a tree that we had just walked under twice!!! He never said a word he just crawled down the tree and started walking toward us. I had my light on him and told him to stop or I would shoot ( I would have he scared the crap out of us)He still didn't say anything he just stood there for about 10 seconds staring at us and then turned and walked the other way. We never went back to those woods.

It was late and had got deathly quiet and the coon were not moving very well.

After 15-20 minutes, our dog opens on a bad old track way to the east and opens occasionaly and finaly locates and trees.
I tell Kenny that theres another old road thattaway and I believe we could get closer, so off we go and sure enough when we get around to the other side we are a good bit closer, and we set off on foot to go to the dog.

We get there to find her treed on a big den tree but since it still had leaves on we started squalling and shining with dim lights, thinking it may be on the outside.
Im on one side of the tree closest to the truck and Kenny is on the oposite side, when I happen to notice a small dim light deep in the woods behind Kenny and it caught my eye because it was out of place. There were no houses or roads for a long way in that direction, so I watched it.
It would only stay on for 2 or 3 seconds and then be off for 10-15 seconds, but every time it came on it was closer.

Kenny is still blowin his squaller and looking for the coon totaly unaware that we have company comming from behind him. I just leave my light off and watch.

This goes on untill the last time i see the light it is no more than perhaps 20 feet behind him and then I never see it again.
Kenny has given up on finding the coon and comes to the tree, gets the dog, mumbles something about a den tree, hollars and asks me where im at cause ive got my light out, and walks over to me.
"who is that that walked in on us?" I asked him.
"Huh"
"Someone walked right in behind you over there" I told him"surely you seen it, heck it coulda tapped you on the shoulder".
He said"Schmucker, your crazy as he11,there is nobody over there"
I got my spotlight out and put it on the last place I had seen the light and when I did we see a figure step behind a big tree. So I just keep the spotlight on and walk over to the tree and this "thing" keeps moving around it to try and stay hid.
When I get right up to it, it is a full grown man in a alien/space monster costume, very realistic looking I mite add.lol
We try to talk to him, and ask him a few questions, but he refuses to say anything, he just stares at us.
Finaly I say, "well we gotta go" and away we went, and left him standing there, but I gotta say we kept looking over our shoulder and didnt waste any time getting the dog loaded and gettin outa there. lol

We drive a lil ways and neither one of us says a word, and finaly Kenny says, "Ill tell you one thing Schmucker, if that thing woulda said take me to your leader ,ida schitt my pants right there" rofl.

Absolutely a true story and I never did find out who it was or what he was doing out there, but I will never forget it.

This is freaking hilarious.........I just sat in an office full of co-workers and LMAO and no one knew what I was laughing at. I walked out front to have a smaoke and gather myself and still couldn't stop laughing!!!!!

Wolves

The most bizarre incident I can think of is when a couple of wolves killed and ate my dog in Northern Michigan while I was in the woods looking for her. It was a sick and gruesome site and knowing the wolves were still there was kinda strange. Happened just last week.

Turkeys

Was hunting near Charleston MO one night and walked under a tree turkeys were roosting in. they woke up and lit out, scared the *****out of me. My buddy said, yeah theres turkeys in here. Jerk. One night in NE Arkansss was walking along next to the edge of the woods, looked over and there was a coyote about a hundred feet away staring at me. I thought thats strange, he should run, maybe he's hurt. Stood looking at him and thought he must be sick, at that time I decided one of us really should leave, I left quickly, about that time I heard my dog baying something, but her voice sounded different. Got there and seen something rreal weird half burrowed in the ground dog was baying at it witha what in the *** is this. My first encounter with an armadillo. I leashed the dog and left, keeping an out for that coyote or that armadillo. I sometimes think I should really arm myself at all times.

Had a few moments that I look back on and laugh. One of my good friends and my brother were walking in with me to a tree across some pasture that was over grown. When I flushed a covey of quail. I turned and ran into my friend who was behind me. Not knowing why I was running he in turn ran into my little brother. In the commotion the rest of the covey flushed and we scattered. It was all we could do to keep from laughing ourselves to death once we figured out what had happened but for the moment it was a bit unnerving.

Also when ever we run dogs at the club I always end up walking into the 3-D archery range and get startled by the bear, mountain lion, and that dang gator target.

Try doing that while you are riding a half broke horse. Just hold on loosely.

Promise not to laugh

A few years ago, during the time of Haley's comet passing through, this absolute true incident happened.

2nd nite of coon season, 6:50 P.M. S.E. Ohio. I get out of my truck and release the dogs into the woods. I look up at the clear night sky and notice what I believe to be a air plane coming toward me flying pretty low. No sound is heard but as it continues to approach, this light continues to get bigger and brighter. I now notice 5 to 6 smaller lights trailing behind the big one some spaced evenly and some further apart, but all trailing behind the big light.

As this continues to approach, I see strobing colored lights streaming down toward the ground and these lights seem to be coming from the bottom of the vessel. It would pulse one time all blue, once all red and once all white. As this vessel passed over me I could see windows, and the inside of the vessel was lighted, as I could see that through the window. This thing looked like a flying sports areana or something like that. It was so huge that the smalle vessels following along behind were so small that all you could really see of them was lights like you would see from an air plane. There was never any sound from any of the vessels, this thing went from west to east, horizon to horizon, in less than 30 seconds, but it was absolutely amazing. The next day it came out in our local paper that many folks had see something that night from Chicage to Indinapolis, and then due east toward the east coast, Washington DC area.

The explanation that came out in the paper was some type of glow that was the after effect of Haley's comet which had passed through the day before. I know that was bull cause what I saw was a flying building. My buddy who was a Sherriff Deputy was hunting 10 miles from me and saw the same thing. But he was afraid to report it for fear of ridicule.

Now call me crazy!!! But this is absolutely true.

Wasn't out hunting, but last year me and my dad were on our way back from a buddies house one night, it was probably going on 1:00am and just a clear dark night. We were driving down the road and saw a car sitting in there driveway right by the road, the nearest house was probably 200 yards back off of the road. We drive by the care and notice the alarm is going off. The left turn signal was on, headlights were on, and it was still running. So we stop and I look at dad and he looks at me, here we sit out pretty much in the middle of nowhere at 1:00 in the morning pitch black out. So we back up and park the truck in the road probably 10 or 15 yards passed the car and get out (very VERY slowly) and creep our way toward the car to see what is going on. The headlights were causing a little bit of a glare so we had to get pretty close to be able to see anything even with the flashlight. So we ease our way in closer to the car, in no hurry at all to get over to it, as we get closer we see a big white dog and a chihuahua. Getting closer we saw a woman slumped over the steering wheel, the chihuahua standing on her head and every time it would move the horn would sound (turns out the alarm wasn't going off) we call out a couple times and she doesn't move or say anything so I call 911. At this point were getting a little on the jumpy side, its not everyday you see a perfectly fine car with someone slumped over the steering wheel. So at this point we have let our minds wonder, stabbing or a shooting or something has happened. About 10 minutes after I call 911 another man rides up and he is just as jumpy as we are. So there the 3 of us stand, just looking and waiting. 15 minutes after calling 911 the police shows and and shortly there after an ambulance. Turns out she was diabetic and had a spike in sugar, EMTs said that if we hadn't come across her there was a good chance she would have died. Weird though how your mind wonders at night and you never even think to check for the obvious.

I have to say as a 911 dispatcher, it bothers me that the dispatcher didn't have you check the patient and preform pre arrival care!
