John,
Several years ago ( probably more like 20) Buck had a female he called Squeak. She had as good a mouth as any I have ever hunted with. I think he had Timber about that same time frame. Do you remember how she was bred?

preacher color

There has been much supposition about where the Preacher color is comming from and whether or not it all came from Ozark Preacher. I have done a good bit of research into both Triggs and Julys which have a major part in our current Treeing Walkers. Both lines have this color particularly the Triggs. I would like for anyone with old magazines or access to old pictures of Treeing Walkers to send me one picture of a registered Treeing Walker coonhound prior to Ozark Preacher that was colored like this. Particularly with tan past the elbos on the front and back. I have been unable to find one. There have been those that have supposed that this color could have come from Black and Tans. Take a good look at old Preacher and kindly describe to me those characteristics that you find that remind you of a B&T. I am also interested in a picture of a dog that has the color although neither parent did. This is something else I have never witnessed. Please don't think that I am only interested in the color. I am very intent on recapturing the hunting characteristics that I most admire. They are still exhibited today. They are just spread out a lot and I am trying to regroup them in one bunch of dogs.

Once again, here is a pic of a male out the first cross from my dad's Maggie female and Travis Adreon's Iowa Buckeye dog.
We plan on breeding Maggie again soon and we would consider breeding her back to Buckeye. I have hunted with a male and a female from the first cross and they both went on to make coondogs. The female we had and later sold to Travis Adreon had many of the Preacher characteristics. Rereading this post I've come to realize that Maggie has some Preacher characteristics also. One thing she does have that Preacher dog's seem to lack is speed, Maggie can flat out get in the dark and get treed. She doesn't generally grub out a bad track so she's either a lightning quick track dog or is just taking hotter tracks. She is generally pretty accurate, especially by herself.

We aren't sure what to bred her to this time around. I have another post with her up for lease and I've had some nice offers. Some really nice offers. http://forums.ukcdogs.com/showthrea...threadid=149237

If enough folks would be interested in this cross we would be willing to make it again.
I think these pups would suit anyone interested in the "Preacher Project" and would suit competition and pleasure hunters.
These pups would be Preacher bred multiple times.

Preacher Blood

I know this doesn't have anything to do with Preacher, but the dog that put his mark on his offspring as far as color was concerned was the English dog, Hardtime Rocky.

We just bred dad's Maggie again but we bred for more Clover. We did get a couple more shots of Preacher blood with it but not real close up.

Last time I spoke with Travis Adreon he was looking for a stud for his Diamond female who is out of the Buckeye x Maggie cross. Not sure if he ever settled on a stud or not. I'm not sure if old Buckeye is still alive but I think he'll be a stud that folks are going to regret not breeding to. Travis says Diamond is the most accurate dog he has owned since ol' Buckeye. I think he was maybe looking for a stud that goes back to his Adreon's Roxie.
