Today's Hunters!

What is the deal with today's hunters in the way they hunt. All I see on social media is that when their dog is treed with 2 or more coons up one tree they come out with 2 or more trees. And on the Competition hunts they will cheat you just to get a "easy Cast Win". I have been taught all my time I've been hunting it don't do anything for your dog to get 2 shot out to him in one tree.

I've seen people shoot doubles or triples out of one tree but it was always for the hides not to give the dogs more fur one trees. But coons are not worth enough now to be bothered, and it sure don't do any good for the dog to have multiple coons shoot out of one tree

Some people are hunters and some are killers. The instinct to kill something is in our make up. In some people, it has either been bred out or it is repressed. It goes back to our very beginnings when we had to kill or be killed. Why do you think that there is always a war going on somewhere? Animals are the same way. Some are bunny rabbits and some are tigers.
It is also human nature to judge others by how you act/think. Everyone thinks that their way is the best so there must be something wrong with other people that don't act like them.

Of course, sometimes there is something just wrong with them.

If it's not illegal and not on your hunting grounds why does it bother you?

People, especially Amish, are that way here with deer hunting. Buy all the tags they can and try to fill them all. We had 8 tags and only shot 2 deer. It was nice seeing 11 doe come in to our food plot after season. Maybe next yr we'll see some fawns if the coyotes and bears don't find them.
Not many coon here because they get poisoned or trapped and shot in the sweet corn 😞

I dont kill everyone I tree and never have. But if someone else does its their choice. I have plenty of hunting grounds and nobody else hunts there. As a matter of fact my land owners let me know when they are trapping yotes to stay out.

Explain how they are cheating, and if your not filing a formal complaint then your just allowing it to go on.

If more than one coon came out of a tree, even if it is legal the dog would not get anything out of it, you should keep your honey holes filled so it don't get dry.

Well, I have to say that this is not the case around here...it is not "today's hunters" that have to shoot every coon they tree. What I see is the same as always, it's the older guys that have always done it who are the ones that have to kill every coon they tree.
I have known/know five or six coon hunters that are scared to death they might leave behind a coon that someone else might get. If four coons go up one tree...four are going to hit the ground. If they see eyes laid up on the edge of a field it hits the ground too, most of the time their dogs never even bark.
This is how I know it does not improve your dogs. If it did they would have world class hounds as many coons as those dogs have had in their mouth. Sad fact is most of us wouldn't give .50 cents for them!!!!

I said I DON'T kill more than one a tree. BUT if it's not my hunting spots and it's NOT illegal why do I care how many a person shoots out of a tree?
I'm not even saying I agree with it, but what business is it of mine?

Pictures on the tailgate. Who enjoys looking at pictures of dead animals. Just tell me your dog treed 5. I don't need to know you killed them or that they were all in the same tree.

What they do on their own hunting spot is their business, no arguement. The problem is that they do it the most on public land, and that is everyone's concern. Or else they sneak into a place they have no permission. Coons travel around quite a bit and a dead coon can never be run and treed again. The biggest problem with killing every coon you tree is that it doesn't take too long before you wipe out your own hunting spots.
If you got plenty coons then it's okay. What I run into is that deer hunters want them all killed after season because they eat up all their corn piles...I tell them I am killing them all, but I don't.

Whose crops do you suppose those deer are eating the rest of the year? If there are more than two in your food plot, you need to kill some more.
As far as coon, Unless you are hunting a world champ, you wont really hurt the population much. I remember one guy tellin me he killed every coon on his farm, Next spring I heard his neighbor then poisoned 40+.

Today's hunters??! I knew several hunters when coons had value that carried full size axes or climbing spikes and if you walked around on public land You seen charred den trees. I never understood shooting more than 1 out of a tree but if it's legal so be it.
