Historical Studs

An idea I had brought up last year was to put in some pages on the historical studs of the past. I am sure there are some pictures out there on most of them. The idea is to put in a page on dogs like, Hammer III, Smokey River Diamond Jim, Bean's Ranger, etc. and have the folks who are putting in the page be recognized (if they want) at the bottom of the page. It would also be informative to have at least a 3 generation pedigree on the page also. My suggestion would be that each person donate $20 towards an add and as long as you get 5 people to donate per stud you would pay for the add. Anything after that goes to the association as a donation.
The listing of the studs is only a suggestion I am sure there are many more that would be supported by a group of breeders and hunters.

The purpose of this is two fold:

1. To bring additional revenue into the association.
2. To have a resource of information on the older studs that where instrumental in developing the breed as it is today. Many of the younger hunters do not have an understanding of the foundation crosses that were instrumental in developing the lines as they are today.

So to get the ball rolling with Guy's permission you could PM Me with a suggestion for a stud and your commitment to the add. Now I know that no one wants to be chasing anyone for Payment so once an add has enough $$ to pay for it you would need to send the money in so it could be published.

Any comments or suggestions feel free to let me know.

Scott

Scott,

That is a great ideal, I like it and hope they go for it in this bluebook. Would be great to see photos of the hounds that brought me my hounds. If they do this you can put me down to donate $20.00 on one.

Great Idea Scott!

Put me down for $20 if anybody needs a 5th wheel. I'd also help, if needed, to find a picture of any historical hound so honored. I think you'll find in the upcoming Historical Blue Book several articles identifying some pioneer Blues that most folks have never heard of. To supplement for present day influences, multi-biographies on 21st century high impact Blueticks will also be featured....bunches of other stuff to include over 100 photos of "vanguard Blues of old" in the Blue Pages section.

Thanks this is going to be fun!!

I will donate $100 towards the cause so we already have enough to do 1.

You may want to donate to the add by putting in a donation in memory of: a passed breeder, hunter, friend, dog, family member etc.

Scott

PS. I have put out my feelers to some of the guys I know who have kept quite a few of these old pictures.

suggested studs

Please suggest some of those blues of the past that we could use. By suggesting it does not mean that you are committing to the add or being disrespectful to any other studs, breeders, hunters, family what ever.

Suggestions:

Hammer II, III

Many of the Uchtman studs.

Smokey River Diamond Jim and Chief

Guy and I am sure some others know about some farther back.

FYI, my $100 donation will be used to help any adds that could use a couple of more donations.

Scott

Hello Don....probably won't make it, although its always been one of my favorite Bluetick events. I believe this is the 62nd Fall Round Up coming up--has to be one of the longest running get-togethers in the sport! I tell everybody I've got young cows and old fences. Hate to leave my wife here alone to chase cows. Come on down to the Battle of the Breeds (Ada, OK in December). Hope you all have a good one.

I sent dues in back in February. I never received any conformation even though the check was cashed. I've sent multiple emails without a response.

Looks like so far we will have enough participation for at least two pages of Historical Studs. If you have an interest in supporting this for the association you can PM me or post your interest.
Thanks,
Scott

Terry...the way I envisioned the idea: A point man would take the initiative to honor a respected old stud, and contact 3 or 4 other supporters of like opinion, i.e. locate a favorable photo of the dog, collect the money from donors and send the draft ad to the BBCHA Blue Book designer at lynnjend@yahoo.com. Just like submitting a regular Blue Book Ad.

The $100 ad payment would be sent to BBCHA Sec/Treas. Debbie Killough, 320 Forbus Rd., Cabot, AR 72023-5900.

In other words, it would be up to the folks who want to honor a particular vintage stud....to get 'er done. The donors could be identified in the ad.

If I can help locate a photo of the honoree, or if anybody needs another donor I would be glad to assist where I can. Sounds like a great way to honor a deserving hound.

Guy

Guy

Update: I sent a PM to Guy and he sent me three pictures of the studs I suggested. Bean's Ranger, Hammer II and Smokey River Blue Diamond Jim. I suggested those three because of the significance they played in some of the dogs out there today. Two of the pictures are very good but the one of Bean's Ranger is unfortunately not that good. So if some one can help with a better picture that would be great. I have contacted someone who may have one but have not heard back. So If we only put those three in the book that would be $300. We are about half way there without seeing the ad on how they would look. I would like to get one made up as an example so folks can see what there $20 would get them. I am confident we can get at least those three put in but it would be nice to see more.

Historical Studs

As of now we have 4 pages for the Historical Stud Section of the Bbcha blue book.
The are as follows:
Vaughns Warrior
Flor De Curley
Grnite Ch Smokey River Blue Diamond Jim
Grnite Ch Dean's Northern Blue Hammer II

We need at least three generation pedigree on DJ and Hammer II

If you would like to sponsor one of these pages it will cost $20 for each sponsor line. It can be your name or kennel name or in memory of a friend, hunter or hound that has passed. At this time you can just let me know you would like to sponser one of the dogs and we will figure out the payment either at the fall roundup or it could be sent in. Any questions please ask.

Scott

Lynn is making theses pages look great. Much better than my example so for $20 you can be recognized in a full page ad with a deserving Historical hound

Note for the designer

Hello All,

I thought I would check in. I know the deadline for member ads is a few weeks away, but I will take them when ever you want to send them in. The more I get early, the earlier I can get the book to the printer. All you need to do is send me a photo or photos and all text you want to appear on your ad. Or, if you have an ad already done, you can send me that. If you provide me with an email address I will send you a proof. I will take ads by email or regular mail.

I will send out a proof for you to approve, if I don't hear back after two email attempts, I will assume its good. If you don't see a proof from me, check your spam filter, and you can email me to conform I sent one. I have emailed a few proofs and I haven't heard back from people, I will be sending them out again this week.

Thanks to everyone at BBCHA who are helping gather all of the parts of the book for me...and answering my numerous questions, I'm sure I can be very annoying.

I do this freelance project on the side, so I may not return your email questions until nights and weekends. I promise I will get back to you as soon as I can.

my email is lynnjend@yahoo.com

Mailing Address
406 Claudia Ave.
Harrisburg, SD 57032

Thanks Much!
Lynn

Historical Studs

The idea and participation on the Historical Stud section went well down at the Fall Roundup. So here is where we are at:
Gary Uchtman did provide a better picture of Bean's Ranger for the section.
You can send your $20 directly to Debbie on the page you would like to Sponsor. You need to email Debbie with the Page you would like to sponsor and how you would like the recognition to read. Also include your name with the information.
We had a few people just give Debbie the money and did not care about the recognition. In that case we will probably put down the sponsor as "Friends of BBCHA" or something like that. If you have any questions please let me know as we would like to get this taken care of on time for the deadline. Thanks for supporting the Blue Book.

Studs as of today:
Vaughns Warrior
Flor De Curley
Grnite Ch Smokey River Blue Diamond Jim
Grnite Ch Dean's Northern Blue Hammer II
GrNite Ch Beans Ranger
GrNite Ch Fleetwood's True Boy II
