What's the best thing to use to trap a coon

I got two live traps set and I was told to use tuna but didn't know if there was something better

I have always had better luck with sweet stuff in the cold weather times...don't get me wrong, tuna and sardines work fine too. Chocolate cake, marsh mallows, pie, anything sickening sweet. I have personally never had any luck at all with molasses...it just don't work for me. I even set up trail cameras, I couldn't believe they weren't interested.
In the summer it is hard to beat cantaloupe or watermelon...they will risk anything to get at the flavor of those two.

Hard to beat sardines in oil. the cheapest you can get.
BUT
in the summer time when sweetcorn is ready, you can surely catch them with peanut butter and honey--and at that time the sardines did not work.
took over a dozen from one patch and "relocated" them
made for some good training material.

Dog food mixed with some maple syrup works good for me. Just mix in a gallon zip lock bag.

Honeybuns- the only bait I use. I have yet to trap anything other than a coon when using them.

I be caught a few possums on em if they real thick. Gotta get them outta the way. Another tip I learned. I experimented with it all summer be for last. Kept 3 traps set all summer in a guys corn. Caight about 40 coon. I put a regular golf ball in one trap. Along with bait. That golf ball one caught 5 to one more coons than the other traps. So now I put one in all of them. I guess they think its a egg.

I like opening a bag of marshmallows and dumping a pack of grape kool-aid. Shake it real good to coat the marshmallows then put a couple in trap seams to work as good as anything.

Any time I use tuna or cat food, I get a different critter every night- skunks, possoms, cats...

I use marsmallows and peanut butter... no more skunks, cats, and almost never a possom... but lots of coons!
Honeybuns and glazed donuts work great too

Sweet on land, fishy near the water. Sweet on land in trails, you will catch less possum. Cat food drenched in molasses for land set. Cat food drenched in fish and shell fish oil set near water. Always put a couple marshmellows at the entrance of the trap and then in the back of the trap. Caramel essence oil works on land too. It can be found in the baking supply isle at walmart.

I use a white egg. If a coon sees it he will go in. I may try a scent to get them to the trap next time.

Shoot if them ol Game wardens watch facebook any amount of time. Theyd make a million dollars in fines. I see caged coon for sale on there. I see over the limit. I see all kinds of deer hunting selfies with no orange on in gun season. My summers and winters kinda just run together on me here in Ga. Seems like its just always Hot But Id try that golf ball trick it does work.
