Hard Rock

Who out there has something very close to him? Also curious as to why I dont see about or here much of that blood in our breed. I get why some people wouldnt want much to do with it for the obvious reasons but I could care less about what his history is. He was a winner!

from what ive been told (just hear say) is that he wasn't that great of a reproducer. just what ive been told and heard. yes he threw some nice hounds but just where few and far between..

If I were you I'd call Tam Young and ask him he'd be the one to give you the info you seek..

Little curiosity made me interested. For a dog that did all that winning I sure don't hear of anything that goes back to him. If I could get more info on him I would like to have a female off him to breed to Uglystick. Hunting a pup off him and couldn't be more impressed by what I'm getting as well as others

I got a Ntch pup out of Bigfoot ( Hardrock x Cherrypoppins). He nice hound get gone and look to find a coon somewhere.

Outta Hardrock x Cherrypoppins:
Grnt PCH Bigfoot
Grnt Ch Craw
Two Lost Sox
Don't know anything more

Outta Hardrock x ???:
Grnt PCH Hughes Black Gold

Outta Hardrock x Ace female we had:
Ch Stone
And two other good females that never got took to town but could tree truck load!

Craw produced some pretty good pups. One I handle for Corey Jeffries and Chad Smith needed his 100 one for SS won it in one night at double header. Nice dog! He is Ntch.

Those are about the only ones that I can remember.

The female I just bred to Craw is off his littermate Tide AKA Tiger Woods her whole litter made real nice dogs they are only 2 years old now.One of the littermates got in the final 4 at the Baby Stakes.Tam told me when he sold Craw he was a outstanding Dog.I know Bigfoot throws good pups I have hunted with several.

Reproducing might be a matter of opinion. Most guys want those 6 & 8 month olds blowing down trees and don't prefer one's that like running tracks and takes them a yr. or 2 to fully develop into outstanding tree dogs. You heard the same on World Champion BuckII. But if you ask around the guys with good ones say they were some of the best they ever walked behind. The problem with those 6 & 8 month old blow down tree dogs always seem to loose when it really counts. So depends all on what you want to call reproducing!

That's exactl why I said JUST HEAR SAY..
N for the man to call Tam to get the facts..
N as for your comments about 8-9 month old pups being superstars n all that other stuff you was rambling on about.
I'm not one of these guys tht just looks at the reproducers list and says that's who I'm breeding to or want a pup out of. For the simple fact that yes it's a good tool to use but I also understand that some don't comp hunt n some go to big game hunters, so that has to be taken into account as well..
I'm also not one to beileve everything I hear bc even if a pup is doing a good job at a young age that maybe the best they ever get and not progress any more I personally think a dog is at its best around 3-5 years old that what Id consider its prime..
That's all I also know that with him being what he was a 1/2 B&T and 1/2 walker that was a big part in why he wasn't breed more..
Also just because a dog wins a lot doesn't mean it's going to reproduce at a high rate, for example look at world champ rock river GAP how many dogs you see winning out of him??

I'm not one to look at the reproducers list and say "that's who I'm breeding to" just by seeing numbers. What I'm hunting right now as well as others is having great success in the comp side as well as me. I like what I'm getting and want more of it. To my knowledge the cross I'm getting interested in hasn't been tried yet. (HardRock X Uglystick) just an idea fellas. Gotta plan for the future and try to better the breed.

I can say I wasn't directing my post at you it was just an overall presumption.
As far as HardRock reproducing I will say that Tam told me when I inquired about Rock and breeding to him the 1st thing he said was, you know he is half walker. Said he had a young stud dog that I might want to take a look at as he thought he was reproducing better then Rock the dogs name was Moonshine. So from what I got from my conversation was he thought Moonshine was reproducing better that could be in ones perspective, but I bet those that have a good Rock hound would differ in there opinion. I don't take the TRL as much input for improving hounds, it is nice to look at and that is about it. When it first came out it was something to fully consider, though now with the small hunt entries it is way to easy to manipulate the records and put a dog on the list. You were never going to see Rock on the reproducers list as the diehard UKC BNT hunters would never campaign a Rock offspring or even anything with Rock within a 3 generation pedigree.
Now with some homework and the right cross I would consider breeding to Rock sons or daughters, I believe they could be an asset to the breed.

Rock Off spring

I have started three grand kids to rock. All three were good. I like the Ruger dogs better. They seem to have more getty -up to them!

Could Hardrock be a product of Hybrid Vigor? It might be why he never reproduced well...Its just a theory....not trying to stir the pot or nothing

No I'm not hunting anything off of HardRock. I have a year and half old pup off Uglystick and Puke Box Annie that I've been hunting and won a few hunts with. Very fast on track, pretty dang accurate, good mouth, and the natural ability to hunt is second to none. ugly is throwing good hunting dogs. I know many others that love there's as well. I'm wanting some more blood from him and I would like to try and make a cross to him that hasn't been made yet and HardRock is what I'm interested. Just don't know anyone that has dogs off of him or know much about him. Bigfoot female is another one I would be interested in and a few others

Well regardless of what you think sir or what he actually is, his papers say he's a black and tan. Mutt, junk, whatever you wanna call him. Ain't right to bash a mans dog like that. You do your thing with your dogs and I'll do as I please with mine

You probably don't have anything that I would feed if you have " pure " black and tans. You've probably only hunted a short time and are ignorant of whats truly in your dogs background. Post your dogs pedigree please and I'll tell you what dirty paper dogs yours go back to and the sorry junk in your pedigree that should have been neuterd or spayed

Bahaha. I've been hunting for 15 yrs and I have always hunted black dogs. I have a Nitech out of Ky River Batman x Dean's Black Fannie which is out of BTTB Cane. & my female is out of Tony Barnes Rambo x Lil Crickett. Also if you feel the need to add a different color into your black dogs BC they don't suit you well sir its probably time you just switch different colors period and stop hunting black dogs. Now let's here what junk you have

Just what I thought they go back to Ace . He goes back to tiger lilly and lace both go back to dirty paper dogs . Doubt it ? Do your homework junior !! I'm not saying they weren't good dogs I've hunted with ace had dogs direct out of tiger lilly and kept lace at my house and raised pups out of her. Thanks for playing though
P.s. I also noticed you booked a pup out of hobo's hoss . Good choice. When you get it count the toes. Do you think those extra ones come from " pure" black and tans.
When one of your dogs win $100,000 or you have accomplished as much as Tam Young has then maybe you can run your mouth.

back in the day we bred our Gr.Nt.Ch. Deliah to Hardrock and she had 7 pups. All turned out great, but none were put in the hunts (all had white on toes).
