This is a 13 month old zeb 3 pup. Aint seen a ton of hunting till i got him and ive had him in the woods every night!!! All night some nights for probably 3 weeks. Burns a track like a track star but when it goes up he will just mingle around or go find another. If another dog trees he will be their with them when you get their. Ive thought he located a few times but not for sure. Ive tried every thing i know. Tie him back and dont let him have the meat!!! Hang ups he barked at a little. He will bark his hind end off at one when it hits the ground. Goes nuts. Im not a fan of a cage coon but what do you guys think. I think im just loseing my paitence cause i expect him to tree. He does it all but bark tree. Ive seen him smoke a track in a corn feild right to the tree were the coon was sitting and then just go back out in the corn feild and run another. I like this lil dog beleive once he does tree he will be the right kind. Any thing else i can try besides wait???? Lol

Knock one out, to him, hang it up, and lay him up for a few weeks, that's what I would do. Jmo

id stay as close to him as u can and try to get him tied at the tree.....i had one like this, actually bred about the same that would tree every coon in the woods but wouldnt stop. Also,when he locates check where hes at on the garmin,zoom in and im betting youll find coon in the trees hes locating on.....getting him to stop is gonna be the hard part. mine didnt work out but hopefully yours will.

I had the same problem you did with my Sackett Jr. pup. Smoked a track, good locate, just wouldn't tree. What really seemed to do it for me was dragging then hanging a caged coon just out of reach at the tree. I let the dog tree on it for a good 5-10 minutes. Finally seemed to put 2 and 2 together. Next night, singled out, drives a great track and trees beautifully. She has done it that way since.

Not sure if it was the hanger or not but something finally clicked. She was just shy of 2 years old. Sometimes a little patience goes a long way.

Sounds like you will need to teach this pup how to tree and that means he is NOT the right kind.

it is a wipeout dog just give it some time the switch will go off and you will have a instant coon dog. some of them take a little longer to put it together but when it does you will be pleased.

Havent had any luck makeing one accurate. Seems to me their born that way.ive seen dogs that were 2 yr old make 10 trees and never see a coon. I will not put up with that. Thems the ones ill leave in the woods. A buddy of mine has 2 litter mates both harry bawls and when they were 12-16 months old would drive you nutts. These dogs would run all night!!!! Now their around 18 months old and treeing them coons. I like a dog that can burn a track up!!! Always moveing foward and never back!!! And when they park their butts in yonder it aint no question Does he got him????? Pack the rifle boys theirs meat in the freezer tonight!!!!

I feel your "pain". I have a 9 month old that is just the opposite. He is one heck of a treeing machine. Actually puts some of his teachers to shame at the tree. They start um and he finishes. They are 97 to 200 yds away and he is just out of our lights. However, he beats them to the tree without opening up til he gets there.

I say this from experience....I am following my own words as well. I had a two yr old beagle that I took out hunting everyday since it was about 12 weeks old and it never did run a rabbit. On this particular trip I didn't plan on taking it back home. It went down in the briars, yipped and that ole rabbit came lickity split up across the railroad tracks. I wasn't even expecting it. I couldn't shoot nor did I and Snoopy was hot on its tracks. Rest assured, Snoopy got to taste his first rabbit he actually chased but it was my family that tasted the rest. He WAS the best rabbit dog a young boy could ask for.

I believe my 9 month old IS going to be what I desire and in time your hound will be as well.

Might I also add that my Redbone is well bred. I've talked to the owner of the Stud dog to see if he knows how my pups littermates are doing. He said that mine is ahead of the game.

My 14 year old son handled one of my friends Walkers in his first night hunt and got high scoring dog. His head is now 5 size normal and he lets me know every time we go out....dad, how many high scoring dogs have you owned? (I've been hunting since 1978 and never had one). It was never my intention of winning but rather enjoy the beauty of what God has created with friends under His created stars.

I got a wipe out dog here now. Been waiting on it to tree. Its 20 months old. Anybody thinks they can get it to tree on a regular basis. I'll take 300 for her. Huge loud mouth. Smart as whip. They say they might just flip a switch and start. Im sick to death of it. I gotta have something that will tree some. If I wanna hear barking all night. I'll chase dang rabbits. Name of this sport is coon hunting. Mine will tree a caged coon. She will tree a hang up. I have video to prove it.

I just turn mine loose. Ill pick him up some were. He has the whole world to roam when i cut him loose. No need to come back to me ill pick him up some were. I just dont and wont walk to a bunch of slick trees. My 14 month old made 11 trees last week and i looked at 11 coons. I expect to see a coon when i walk into one.

Sounds a whole lot like an experience I've had. Gave up on him at 14 months old. Trail it to the tree and go find another track to run! We gave up on him and gave him to a pleasure hunter in June. He was never turned loose again until the first night of season in November. He then treed and stayed the very first track he ran! He cost me a stack of franklins to get him back the next spring. He turned out to be one of the most balanced I ever owned and died at my place at 14 years of age. He's still my measuring stick today, and why I don't get frustrated because they haven't seen a nite hunt at 18 months of age.
