Been thinking of getting a Sunfire Ultra, but been reading about this Boss light. Anyone know how it compares to the Ultra?

I compared the two at Black and Tan days. Its a well made light and really bright but it wasn't as bright as the ultra or the ol Blue that my buddy had. The head was bigger and it weighed more. The guy selling them was real nice and let me compare them. Seemed like a real good guy to deal with. If it wasnt for the ultra it is the one I would get.

I haven't compared it to the ultra but a buddy of mine compared the ultra to his boss magnum and he said the ultra might be a little brighter but not much but he really like the flood on the ultra !! But with that being said I compared the hotspot against a magnum here and the hotspot is very obviously brighter not just a little but obvious !! But in my country the triple threat works well being thick and dense the colored LEDs help you find a lot of coon that the brightest light won't find !! And I have a spotlight I hav carried for the last yar and a half and have used it three times !! In that time !! Basically what I'm saying is how bright is bright enough !! I can assure you Bruce conkey won't make any statement just to sell a light !! He is as straight as they come and stands behind everything he sells and will go well beyond the call of duty when trying to satisfy a customer !! And to me that means more than any lux are brightness readings!!

I have one.. IF you have the Magnum it is brighter than that. Each click is a little brighter until you get to the 5th click, then it is WAY brighter. If you've seen the flood on the Magnum I think the one on the Hotspot is better and the spot a little tighter.

The Ultra is obviously brighter than the magnum, and brighter than the Hot spot. Not a lot brighter than the Hot spot but some. People seem to have a pride in what they have and want to say what they have is brighter. Not me, when I see one brighter that's what I will be wearing. The Hot spot is a nice one definitely a contender. I compared them because I don't believe hardly anything people tell me on here about a light if I don't know them.

I purchased a cajun bayou and everything I heard about it was false. Its heaver than advertised by a lot and all of the weight is in the head. To top it all off its advertised as being brighter than mine. So I purchased it. It is literally not 1/2 as bright as my light. I contacted them to use the 30 day money back and they wanted a $25 restocking fee.

I buy and try lights like most people change socks.

When it comes to overall brightness nothing currently made by any company is as bright as a Sunfire Ultra. A few of the new single LED lights made by other companies are close but none brighter.

I too try and buy lights all the time, have owned or been in the woods with about Every light available .........

The Sunfire is the Brightest available that I know of.
I owned 2 of the original Sunspots......I loved the flood for walking and shining an entire tree in the summer, it wasn't very good at all when needing a tight spot in the Tall trees.

I owned 2 of the Sunfires, I liked the original better to walk with, and when it came to reaching the top of a big Oak, it too broke up too bad, probably more problem with my eyes than the light. I hated the hard hats that the Sunspot and Sunfire came on, too big, too tall......for Me.

I have 2 new lights now that I like very much.....
1 is the Boss Super Lite---- It's the small box light, I have 2 dif heads with it and it's a darn good light, one head is the Magnum and not quite as bright as the Sunfire but close.

The other light I own is the new Lightweight 3 LED ( one is red ) Caplight made by Sam Davis.......I find myself using this light more than the others, I have The Flame Spotlight with it, I have a colored LED if I need it, I have a nice flood to walk with and on the 1st click, and cranked up on the 4th click it is very bright. I feel this is a light that works great for me, and I have Sam's new Spotlight on the way for me to compare it to the Flame.

You have to look at other things other than how bright a light is, like dependability and customer service , and in my opinion you can't get any better than Sam Davis and Redgy Ramsey or with Bruce Conkey's and Kevin, Brad Rainwater.

.

We have compared the HotSpot to every light and spotlight being sold. We can't find one brighter. Couple that with double the burn time of 95% of the lights being sold and I feel we have a winner!!

Before we get all caught up in the brightness game let me say we keep getting them brighter because that is what the customer appears to want. My personal opinion is they were bright enough 2 years ago.

I appreciate all the calls and questions about the light. Like I tell everyone on the phone. If you think I misrepresent the light in anyway and your not happy with the light. We give a full refund!!

Like it has been mentioned here. There are several lights being sold that are quality lights and the Men who sell them are quality Men. I am just glad that after 40 years of coon hunting I can be a part of bringing the Coon Hunter the most advanced products available. Kevin who is the LED Master has taught me a lot and I hope we both have many more years together to bring YOU the COON HUNTER products you deserve!!

I have a Sunfire But I got it on a long cord because I didn't like the cap style. You can get it either way if you don't like the cap lights as I'm sure you can the Hotspot. It is a great light and super bright. I Have talked to Mike from Sunfire and he was a very nice guy and answered a bunch of questions I had. He even sent me pop covers for my light for free. I have not seen one of the Hotspots for myself but hear it is a dandy light. I have bought things off of Mr. Conkey and have spoken with him on the phone also. He is a great guy also and really stands behind his products. So from my experience with both companies I would say either way you go be it Boss or Sunfire you will be in a win win situation because both are great guys that stand behind their product and both guys make some of the best lights on the market. My advice would be compare both side by side and see which you like better. That's how I chose mine.

I'm not taking anything away from any of these light builders. They are all awesome men to deal with with bright lights. There is a light called the cajun bayou that people need to test these lights against. I have seen them all side by side in a tree and they are made by one of the best in the industry right besidr kevin rainwater and michael rosemand

Boss Hotspot

How would you describe the halo on this light? Does it illuminate everything around your feet to allow you to keep truckin without having to continually see what's in front of you or is the halo out in front leaving a void place around your feet?

It has a large halo and you'll be able to see your feet when walking no doubt. Its a very defined halo and doesnt break-up in my opinion it holds shape well and is great for walking because it expands out far away from you. Then you have a tighter spot in the middle for shining...I'd say medium to tight spot. This is the 60,000k lux version I'm describing.

Also I compared this light to a Sunfire Ultra the 50,000k lux version and I believe people think the Sunfire is a little brighter because the color of the light on the Sunfire is more blueish. This makes it almost a more white color....the boss hotspot is more yellowish color which i prefer personally. We turned them on high and honestly you cant tell a difference on the brightness, they both appear the same when i looked at them. If Boss went out of business Id get a Sunfire both are great lights.
