Water Races

Why are they not licensed races at youth nationals?

Because we just let whoever has a dog to swim swim them. That way they can go up against their buddies or people they met just that day. We've tried having licensed WR's at Youth Nationals but the vast majority of the kids have just as much fun just throwing their dog in the box and letting them swim. We do have trophies for the WR and they are very nice. We try to make it just a good time and don't worry about category or any of that. The kids have a blast and it is fun to watch them!

List of Qualifiers

Paul,
Is a list available, of the remaining Qualifiers? We know about the Friday night before. We would like to go to a couple qualifiers before then, if possible.
Thanks

Any youth breed hunt, youth state hunt or Yep event can qualify them for Nationals. I know there are some Yep events coming up in our area.

Logansport IN - April 26.
Silver Lake, IN - May 3
Black and Tan Days - May 3
Fulton County Coon Hunter - May 17
Kids World Brazil, IN- June 20
Liberty, IN - June 28
Vallonia and Medora, IN both have had one not sure of the dates.

The Fulton Co Coon Hunters has the Yep class, Licensed field trial, bench show and hunt. There are lots of trophies for every event and also for high scoring dog of every breed. There will also be an overall winner for the day. The kids always have a good time and leave happy!! There is also a regular UKC hunt the night before on the 16th.

Get with local clubs and see if they can pull together and put in a bid for it. Big events cannot be put on without dedicated club(s) and club members.

Question

About the Breed Championships: Example American Black and Tan association youth Championship, National Redbone Assoc Youth Championship, TWBFA Youth Championship etc..
Are these open to all breeds? Can a Redbone compete at the TWBFA Youth Championship?

This fix is best accomplished by a combination of Garmin and TriTronics or an Alpha. You will need both tracking and ecollar.

I believe its a cast win with plus points. there is no limit to how many can qualify at the event now. NC Youth Hunt/Show is tomorrow 5/31 in Norwood NC. we had 12 to qualify last year.

Do you get a certificate if you qualify? I got second at the Black and Tan days youth hunt. Didn't know when registering for youth nationals of you had to show proof of qualification.

Clay,

If you qualify you should get a letter from us. The youth hunt at B&T Days that qualifies you for Youth Nationals would have been the Saturday UKC Licensed Youth Hunt.

If you are not qualified do not worry! There is a last-chance qualifier/UKC Licensed Youth Hunt on Friday night. Qualified and non-qualified dogs draw out separately so all the non-Q dogs have a chance to get in. Even if you still fail to qualify, there is an open UKC Licensed Youth Hunt on Saturday night for you to hunt in. You can't get the title of Youth National Champion, or one of the scholarships, but we still give out nice trophies, lights, prizes, and of course UKC Championship Points!

Qualified

I got second on Saturday. I haven't got a letter. I also won GrcH Male at the NE State Youth. Does that qualify him for the show and hunt? Same dog.
