It is 160,000 acres of Government owned land that is legal to hunt. I'm sure you could run into other hunters if they happen to be around in your general area. It is anywhere from 3-10 miles wide and 90 miles long if that gives you any perspective. You can hunt a long, long time and never touch the same spot twice and not run into anyone else.
There are a lot of groups of hunters who go down there this time of year. It's a Thanksgiving tradition for many groups. I know there is a B&T group that meets in Marianna for this weekend and then about 1/2 of them hit the refuge hard next week.
If you ever get the chance to go, go. Don't hesitate, don't think about it, just go. It's honestly some of the best hunting in the country and I've hunted everywhere from the midwest to the southeast, mountains, plains, river bottoms, you name it. It has some unreal hunting. It always helps when you are going with a good bunch of guys too!
