I remember when......

1. I remember when I went to school with a gun rack in the back window and nobody said a thing about it.

2. I remember when I always carried my case pocket knife in school and sometimes whittled with it at recess.

3. I remember when you could smoke a ciggarette about anywhere around town and nobody said nothing about it.

4. I remember when Gays and Lesbians used to actually hide it.

5. I remember when nieghbors used to actually KNOW each other and actually BE neighborly.

6. I remember when little girls and boys could play in the streets without some Jerry Sandusky Type looking at them as SEX objects.

7. I remember when people used to have some fear and respect for the Lord our God.

Do you have any "remember whens" ?

Great post but what's in the dark soon comes to light. I remember when kids rode buses or walked to school, now kids have cars more expensive than the parent. Back yard football, baseball and basketball was common. Going to the stores on the weekend not everyday and sunday after church my parents and grands would sit out on the porch. Seems we don't have time anymore taking a deep breath and inhaling the fresh air.

I remember when we didn't hardly have a deer around here. No leased land. I could do as I pleased. I could ride my horse up and down the rds without worrying about getting ran over. I could drive a tractor 20 miles and nobody blow the horn or shoot me birds. I could haul a dead buck proudly from middle ga to north ga with the tailgate down. I could fish any lakes I wanted to. I remember praying in school every morning and pledging allegiance to our flag. I also remember Id get my butt whooped at home if I stepped outta line I remember the stuff yall talking about to.

I've just seen stuff change here Prolly faster than lots did. I mean this place around here was the fastest growing area in the country bout 13-15 yrs ago. That's when it all changed and all these move ins came here now we can't get em to leave. Im telling you now. Wouldn't take much for this ol Feller to be gone from here. It almost happened when land was bringing 100k an ac. Our farm was under contract. Fell through at the last moment but its one of the biggest left now. Im surrounded by crazy people though. They will call the law over a lil ol 6 week old walker Dawg barking.

I remember when as a boy my best friends older brother came home from vietnam in a box and my father explaining to me that many brave men have given their lives so we can have the freedoms we enjoy in this country. Now we live in a time when these freedoms are being compromised and chipped away at everyday. Theres tough times ahead boys.

I REMEMBER WHEN I GOT BOARDED IN SCHOOL. I DON'T MEAN PADDLED, I GOT A GOOD ONE WHEN I GOT HOME. I REMEMBER WHEN DAD SAID SOMETHING, HE MEANT IT!! I REMEMBER WHEN YOU ASKED A GIRLS PARENTS IF YOU COULD SEE THEIR DAUGHTER. I CAN REMEMBER IF YOU HEARD A SAW RUNNING, YOU WENT TO SEE IF THEY NEEDED HELP. I REMEMBER WHEN I DIDN'T HAVE A CARE IN THE WORLD. NOW ALL I DO IS WORRY.

Wasn't many in north Ga where I live. Just a few. Plum through the late 80s. When I got old enough to hunt. Was no land leased. Everybody went to middle ga. Us included. Now they were everywhere. All the land leased up. They want even let you pay to Coon hunt. Its kinda rolling over though. Sooooo many doe days and lack of trigger control. The deer pop is falling drastically. Which is good for me. Deer members drop out. Coon hunters money is needed

I remember when everyone in our village had a dog and they all run loose. The dog fights back then would have put the tree fighters now to shame.

We had a outdoor free show every Saturday night.

Remember walking into a hardware store and buying a 12 gauge shotgun. I was 14 at the time. The owner said your dad said it was okay, didn't he?

Go to the town down the road once a month and buy a young unbroke horse and a calvery saddle. Horse $15 to $25 and saddle $5. Ride it for a month and take it to the next sale sell for $30 to $50 with saddle, if you got it broke so it could be rode. And do it all over again.

Worked for farmers for 50 cents to a dollar an hour and they expected a hours work for that 50 cents or dollar.

I remember when you shook a man's hand and gave your word it was your bond you didn't break it.
