I personally heard Jed and Tanya say that it will be in West Virginia next year because of the World Hunt's 10 year Anniversary. I believe they said Grafton, but do not hold me to this. lol (But I am sure it is in West Virginia.....according to Tanya and Jed)

I guess the guys who wanted to know where the world hunt was going to be because they wanted to know if it was worth their while to try and qualify a dog (traveling distances) were just hearing things?

I do not mean this to come across as
bashing UKC. It seems if you are trying to promote an event and enlarge participation you would have a list of qualifiers posted and the location announced.. Location can make a huge difference in attendance. JMO and we all have 1.

I agree Vicky, last year myself and a few others here locally didn't enter a dog at the St. louisville qualifier, due to the rumors that the world was going to be in Missouri, at that point, same as this year, there was no announcement of the upcoming location.

That is going to be the same thing in Missouri, Iowa, Kansas, Arkansas and other central states is that they arent going to want to travel that far, so your wqe totals are going to be down. Why not keep it centrally located for everyone? i know it is the ten year anniversary, but if you want it to be big and high numbers wouldnt it be better to make is as easy as possible for everyone to attend.

It appears entries continue to drop the longer ukc keeps the world hunt away from wv/oh.

I'd say if they move it back east you'll see 3 to 4 times the dogs hunted.

Not trying to upset anyone, pretty much more dogs are registered and trialed in this region then the rest of ukc.

Jack

World Hunt 2010

We will try and have a location nailed down and announced by December.

To the best of my knowledge it has never been announced before the end of November. Next year we will try and get it locked down a little earlier and announced so evryone can decide if they want to enter the WQE'S.

Yeah right. There are more registered dogs in oh and wv, but apparently if the numbers are down then they apparently didnt want to drive either, and its twice as far to wv for central states as it is for you guys to drive to indiana. I just think it should be kept halfway centralized for everyone.

Its not just the distance of driving, it also matters if its an area that has a decent amount of rabbits. Not hit and miss. Are there plenty of motels close by. Is it gonna be starting on Friday again, and can you designate which round you want to hunt?
These are all things I would like to see addressed.

Vicky is right. Its no easy task putting on the world, and there isn't many clubs that can do it,and now you have to put on a seperate hunt on sat.

Lance, I agree on the keeping it centralized for everyone to attend. But I also think it is one of those hunts that should be moved around, and I'm not sure if there is anouther central location that can put on a hunt of this size.

I'm blessed to be located where I'm at 6 hrs to Iowa,4 hrs to Nationals, and 6 hrs to WV(Northern). and 6hrs from the Eliminator man Indiana is a long state to drive.

A central location is an "ideal" thought but not reasonable..like they said not too many clubs can put on a hunt of that size. I also agree that a good majority of the dogs hunted in u.k.c are from Ohio and West Virginia. That should as well have some weight in where to host the world hunts. I heard alot of people talking about if it was held in missouri they would'nt be making the trip. The 3 days was a great idea! as well as a slam hunt on saturday to give guys like me something to do. How many clubs can host a world hunt and a reular licensed hunt on the same day ???????

I agree that there are more dogs in West Virginia and Ohio, but holding all the big hunts there certainly aren't going to improve numbers for other states.

I also agree that there aren't to many clubs capable of puting on a hunt of this size. I feel that it should be moved around to the clubs that are capable of holding it. It makes no difference to me where it's at.

not suggesting that ohio and west virginia be the only places to host the world, but i will say the further you get from those two states you will prbly see less and less people or dogs.

If they would go back to the zone run offs, then you would have the numbers at a size that could be held almost anywhere. I believe when it was like that and in ohio there were only 50 or 60 dogs at the world. just a thought.
