hunting the late round for first place

I think ukc should let u hunt the late round at small huntin with the nitch so u can see ho gets the win
cause if u go to a small hunt u come in with a 225+ and a nother cast has 250+ well the lower score dont get anything so if u hunt
it off that would make it fare i think

If you like the late round for placement you better stick with the other registry oo by the way they pay cash for those placements instead of plastic

rules in UKC don't allow for a hunt off, and quite frankly, i don't believe you are going to see it change anytime soon. Thats what makes the registries different, and it is purely luck of the draw. and yes..i have been on both sides of the stick, and the short end is bad, but you just have to go get it next time.

I think the system should be evaluated, I do not agree with a hunt off as many clubs could not support (hunting guide/land use) another late cast...My personal opinion is that they leave it the same (5 overall Nt Ch wins) but keep up with cast wins so that after 10 Nt Ch cast wins the dog can be promoted even if 6 or 7 were not counted under the current system....In other words consistent cast winners should be rewarded....

If I wanted my dog to only win due to "luck" I would stop coonhunting and go to the racetrack to bet on horses.

willie i'm all for the countdown. i would love to see ukc go to a countdown. get rid of them babblers that strike for 100 and cover with 30 seconds left in the tree and get 75.

The hunts were set up to see who had the best dog. Under the rules set by the founders the dogs WERE suppose to pack together. That's why they give a different set of points for each strike/tree. Seems that the longer the hunts go on the newer generation of hunters seem to forget that OUR Coonhounds ARE A PACK dog.

THEY SHOULD DO SOMETHING DIFFERENT WITH THE NITE CH CASTS. SHOULD BE LIKE REGISTERED WHERE YOU GET SO MANY POINTS FOR SECOND, THIRD , BUT HAVE TO HAVE ONE FIRST. YOU CAN'T HELP NOT SCORING AS MUCH AS THE OTHER CAST. GETS REAL OLD WINNING CASTS WITH NO REWARD.

i do agree that the ukc rules should be tweeked a little, me personally i am all for the Countdown in UKC this would eliminate alot of Me tooing and benefit the dog that is out there working not just along for the ride, and would like to see the strike go to 6 minutes instead of 8 stops alot of the handlers striking dogs on Babbles 2 minutes is along time when you are on the clock, this will probably never happen but it sure is wishful thinking. jmo

Different ideas on what Fred? Liking dogs to go there different ways and see all 4 dogs under a coon on 4 different trees? Yea sounds like a terrible thing huh?

Tell you what patch put that me too dog in a PKC hunt and see how many casts you win with their countdown rule. Please enter 3 and tell us what happened.

Ask the guys in my ukc casts about my never treeing independent dogs and all the other die hard independent dogs out there.

NiteCh PR Olw Creek Speck ( Been in 10 ukc hunts and has 2 wins toward Grand Nite Ch 450+, 525+, 25+ 450+ and 437+ in a thunderstorm, ) Has not got a 2nd tree yet and most likely never will.

PR Nocturnal Mini Mouse ( been in 1 ukc hunt and has a second place win with 375+ ) will not cover another dog.

Grandnite Ch Blow By You Diamond would not cover another dog ever. Made Nite Ch in a few casts and fron Nite Ch to Grand Nite Ch in 7 casts. Yep sure is hard to win with a 100% independent dog.

Late Round

we did this at one of the biggest hunts in the country for a few years and found that it didnt change any of the results now we do double castb wins . Most clubs in our country dont have a lot of people that can guide a late round with out causing problems and up loosing hunting groud.

if that dog is striking for a quater and covering that makes it even worse. lol they better strike for a 100 if they are going to cover. better yet have them strike for 100 and tree for 100

Most competition hunters today cant find a dog that can compete for the same coon and win.

Big_Boss, your just about as wrong as a little fellow could be. I'm friends with the man who has won more over all money than anyone in PKC and you know what he told me? He said give me a dog that will get to his self once or twice and then get part of yours & I'll win more than I lose. Now the question is do I take your advice or someone that is all time money winner? YOU TELL ME?

When 4 men line up in a 100 meter race do they go in 4 different directions????!!!!!! Usain Bolt is the fastest man in the world right now because he goes head to head with the rest of the best. Most of the time when a dog gets off by itself ALL the time it's been beat away from trees. (ain't that right big_boss) I want a dog with NATURAL ability. If he's a consistant second and second....he isn't the best.

Yes i will tell you straight up if my dog covers "honors" another dog i will not tree it for 2nd 3rd or 4th. That's just me, that's youre coon not mine. Nothing is more fun then having a dog that you know is going to be by-itself 99% of the time especially when it's dead accurate. The reason most say the hate independent dogs is because they have never had one that's alone all the time agree or disagree makes no difference to me but tell you what John D. Take a good look at the pkc and ukc world hunt final scorecards of the past 6 years. Please do that and tell us how many dogs you see recieving 75 or 50 on a tree.

Yes i will agree that in UKC if you have a dog that will get 1 by-itself on 1 coon and cover every other dog that's treed youre going to be hard to beat i woln't deny that but if i had to hunt a dog like that i would pull my hair out and sell all my hunting stuff. That's no lie but we all have are prefrences don't we.
