Minus tree can't minus strike unless its off game. even if it is rotten it is still a coon.

Dead animals cannot be scored on. Dead animals, in terms of the rules, do not exist. Those two dogs are scored as having left the tree.

Same answer.

I would think the judge would need to determine a fresh kill from something dead before the dog found it because if my dog walks in with a warm possum in her mouth, I'm thinking she should be scratched (NtCh rules) or minused (reg.rules). But when Allen answered the dead deer post last week, he just flat stated you cannot score a dead animal....period.

cruelity to animals........

them 2 dogs were hungry & u guys wanting to minuse them should be arrested...... LOL HA HA HAAAH HA (JK)

food for thought or discussion...........

here it goes..
'ole slick (dog a): minus tree, plus strike........

depends on answers about 'ole breakfast & lunch (dogs b & c).....

did b & c quit treeing & start chewing?
did b & c continue (barking) treed while they chewed?

if they quit treeing to chew, was the clock put on them? why not?

if they quit treeing to chew: minus both ways (they left the tree)

if they never quit (barking) treed while they chewed: minus tree, plus strike

a dead deer is not off game and a dead coon is not a coon........

breakfast & lunch apparently didn't quit treeing while they chewed or the clock would have got them, so u can't say they were ever on the tree w/ slick.. therefore the dead coon would be the same as if they were treed in a 2 foot post hole or a empty 5 gallon bucket.........

what do ya think JiM, will this pass the smell test? or should handlers (b & c) feed breaksfast & lunch before the next hunt??????

Well I would think you would score the dog on the tree acordingly. Plus the two dogs strike points and delete the dogs tree points just as they would be done in the case of catching game on the ground.

u can't do it...... UKC has said that dead animals are not considered game (and I agree with that)....

so dead deer is not off game, therefore u can't scratch a NtCH for chewing on a dead deer (molesting off game)...... a dead coon (unless it is fresh kill) is not game.... the coon in this scenerio was rotten, so u can't score it as game caught on the ground........

what is the difference between a dead coon from two days ago and a fresh kill it is still dead and there for you can't score a dead animal. so i guess i need to teach my dog to bay the coon if she catches it on the ground and not kill it.
