Ivomec

I have used it for more than 20 years, never have had a dog with heartworms, prob lucky.

I give 1/10th cc for every 10 pounds of weight, example : For a 50 pound hound, give 1/2 cc, just squirt it down their throat.

Good luck........................Tim

I read that thread about diluting it. I like to either put it down their mouth or lately I use a short needle and just lift their sking and inject it as they claim it lasts longer and is easier on there organs. It is actually easier to inject than to give them orally.

The Best

I use it and when I do you will learn that given through the mouth they hate it but I put it in the needle and then fill the rest with something sweet coke works fine, this way they want shake it out there mouth.I give 1/2cc for adult dogs and 2/10ths for 3 to 7 month old pups.Anything younger I give nemex and if started you it prevents heartworms but a vet will say other wise due to that check they get for pushing the prevention pills which are great but are costly.Just my opinion

1/2 cc once per month, and shoot it down their mouth. simple easy, and less cost than the vet bill for prevention pills.

Believe it or not

I've actually had 2 vets tell me to use it once a month. 1 showed me right out of their book the uses were for hogs ,dogs, poultry, fowl, cats, dogs, horses & believe it or not HUMANS too. They actually reccomended using it & said there weren't worms of any kind in my dogs. Book also said it wouldn't get whips or tapes either one. Another very good wormer that will get them all is Wormout & it gets them all. Can be ordered online & is reasonably priced too. Usually 100 pills for around $65.00. One pill gets 22.5lbs.

I also have a vet that told me the same thing....He is my FARM vet. BUT, I had an evergency a couple of years ago and he was not available....Boy, I thought I was gonna be in all kind of trouble when this cityfied vet started asking me about my worming and shot practices...According to her I was killing all of my dogs!! And my shots were not good enough that I was buying through a vet supplier. Needless to say, I got my dog treated & slipped in and out of there with a smile and will never go back.

If my farm vet says he does it with his dogs...Then by golly it's good enough for mine !! Thank god for old fashioned farm vets !! But they are far and few between now days

.1 cc/10 lbs.
60 lb. dog 6/10 cc
100 lb. dog 1 cc and so on
inject subcutaneously or squirt in mouth
don't use ivomec plus , It will not get tapeworms or whip worms.

You are looking for 1% ivermectin injectable solution. It does come in many brands. I get the generics as they are the same thing and cheaper. With generics you don't have to worry about getting ivomec plus. I suggest getting a 50 ml bottle. A larger bottle may go out of date before you get it used up.

Mark you want pure Ivomec. one cc for every ten pounds. Been using it for years. It also keeps them from getting heart worms. To kill Heartworm they use high amounts of Ivomec. To control red mange they use large amounts of Ivomec. Don't do real young pups. Will kill them dead. If you have any other questions give me a call and I will help you. Here is my #205-341-3312.

The deluted stuff will worm some but not all. Don't delute Ivomec just use one cc for 10 #. Good up to 60 days in the kennel. 30 days in the ones you are hunting. I do mine every 30 days. Look at the bottle and make sure you have pure Ivomec.

1/10 cc per 10 pounds. I don't think you are going to find pure (100%) ivomec (ivermectin). The highest concentrate I've seen is 1.87 % in horse paste. Once again, get 1% injectable solution of ivermectin which is the active ingredient in ivomec.

The vet told me to give 1\10 cc per 10# and give it by mouth not diluted. If it is diluted it will not work right. They make funny faces but it works. I give it to all my dogs including feist, German Shepherds, and start pups on it at eight weeks old. Once a month and have never had a dog with worms.

It won't kill pups & it don't kill adult heartworms. What it actually does is kill any microfalaria in the system when you give it to them. That is why you give it every month, to kill new infestations. Preventative is actually not even the correct term, but I have used it since 1972. A vet in my town tried to get a supply Co. to stop selling it to me. They said it could hurt their business.

I use it this way too, and I just found out, that my best hound has Heartworms.
She is being treated this next weekend.
The Vet said she must have had them when I got her,and that he is not sure how long a Heartworm can live.

Heart worms

My vet said that from the studies he's read. A mature heartworm can live between 6-8 yrs. People have a misconception about heartworms. My vet told me that the adults don't produce more! For instance, I always thought that when a dog got heartworms, they would multiply & develope into more. My vet said that they have to go through the mosquito, & be transfered from one to another to go through the cycle. If you had 2 dogs tied side by side, & dog 1. had heartworms and a mosquito bit that dog & transmitted micro. to dog 2. then however many micro were transfered through that bite is how many adult worms they would end up with! If then, dog 2 gets bit by a mosquito & that mosquito in turn bites dog 1 again dog 1 can get more micro from dog 2 who originally contracted them from dog 1 in the first place. So infact they can continue to get more by passing micro back & forth via the incubator,( mosquitos) biting each one of them & then biting the other, thus tranfering more micro each time. I hope this made sense!
