why?

cur & fiest rules are just like hound rules for the most part. If we were to use hound rules, this would eliminate those still mouth dogs that can tree coon. Remember that this hunt is OPEN TO ALL DOGS. This too would let those dogs that tree off game ( every now and then) to hunt too. Because that night those dogs don't but maybe others do, this way you are not scrached ( and lose your money) but get another chance! THIS HUNT IS TO BE FUN FOR EVERYONE! And to show who is the BEST of the BEST!

No, you don't turn them all out all at the same time same place. This means that "joe's" walker is in the same cast as "jim's" cur. Or a cast could have 4 dogs like: 1-hound, 1-cur, 1-fiest,1-mixed dog in it. This also means that registered dogs hunt with grade dogs.

To Pigeon & Aboutlastnight, I know that not everyone has WORLD CHAMPIONS like you two, and your dogs DON'T EVER make mistakes ( handlers do), BUT this gives everyone else a chance against your ( never lost a cast ) dogs. I hope that it's not because your afraid to get beat ( finally) by a GRADE dog. This hunt is suppose to find the BEST dog and have a Hunt where PLEASURE HUNTERS and COMPETITION hunters can mix it up and have a good time. And maybe just maybe WIN a $1,000 dollars.
Now, I hope I have changed your minds about not comming. But I'm sure you two DON'T need a $1,000 like the rest of us!

this will

be a diaster because first of all you are going to let dogs tree off game and not get minused you are going to have people who have no clue about the rules so if they get beat they will say they got scr....... then on top of that by your last post seems to me you dont even like comp hunters i personally think if you was worried about the silent dogs you would go by p.k.c rules then you still get minus for off game and but you cant minus out but if your goning for the best then you would want to go by ukc champ rules because the best should not tree off game and the cur rules are suited for curs but not for hounds get real this will never work and every body leave and say they had a good time just my opion

OKAY. I'VE GOT TO PUT MY $.02 WORTH IN.

FIRST OF ALL, HERE WE GO.

HERE'S THE ANSWER. SIMPLE. AND SWEET.

2 NITE HUNT

FORGET THE SCORECARD.

JUDGE THE DOG ON IT'S PERFORMANCE LIKE A HUNT TEST.

SEND 2 JUDGES OUT FOR EACH 4 DOG CAST. ONE JUDGE JUDGES 2 DOGS AT THE SAME TIME.

HUNT 2 HOURS EACH NIGHT

EACH DOG WILL BE AWARDED 25 POINTS FOR EACH:

GO HUNTING
STRIKE COON TRACK
RUN COON TRACK
TREE
STAY TREED 5 MINUTES
HAVE COON

(IF THE DOG DOSENT STRIKE, HE JUST WONT GET THAT 25 POINTS, THIS WAY, THE SILENT DOGS CAN STILL GET IN ON THE ACTION. BUT ONLY COONDOGS WILL ADVANCE TO THE NEXT ROUND)

DOG WILL BE MINUSED 25 POINTS IF:

DOG DOSENT GO HUNTING
DOG QUITS A TRACK AND COMES OUT
DOG DOSENT TREE
DOG LEAVES TREE
DOG DOSENT HAVE COON

NO CIRCLE TREES JUST MINUS POINTS

ANY OFF GAME OR AGGRESSIVE BEHAVIOR WILL BE SCRATCHABLE OFFENSE

AT THE END OF THE 2 HOURS THE DOG WITH THE HIGHEST CUMULATIVE SCORE, WILL WIN THE “CAST” AND ADVANCE TO THE NEXT NIGHT.

SAME THING HAPPENS THIS 2ND NIGHT. IF YOU HAVE MORE THAN 4 DOGS ADVANCING, HUNT IN 1 HOUR INCREMENTS TILL YOU CROWN THE WINNER.

IF YOU ARE GOING FOR THE "BEST OF THE BEST" COON HUNT, THEN YOU CANNOT ALLOW OFF GAME.

1. IN ORDER TO TITLED THE "BEST OF THE BEST" COON HOUND, THE DOGS QUARRY SHOULD BE COONS, NOT JUST WHATEVER IT HAPPENED TO RUN UP A TREE AT THAT PARTICULAR POINT IN TIME.

2. IF DOG RUNS TREES OR MOLESTS ANY OFF GAME IT'S SCRATCHED

3. YOU CANNOT DETERMINE THE BEST OF THE BEST COON DOG TO BE A DOG THAT TREED A POSSUM OVER A DOG THAT TREED COONS, BUT MAYBE HAD A FEW HANDLER ERRORS THAT NIGHT. THAT IS JUST WRONG.

4. IT'S NOT ABOUT PLEASURE HUNTERS OR COMPETITION HUNTERS. WE'RE BOTH. IF YOU ALLOW OFF GAME, IT COMES DOWN TO WHO WAS THE BEST TRASH RUNNERS AND WHO WAS THE BEST COON DOGS.

AND FOR THE RECORD, BEFORE YOU START POPPING OFF ABOUT OUR DOGS BEING PERFECT, YES, OUR DOGS HAVE, WILL, CAN, AND PROBABLY WILL TREE A POSSUM ON ANY GIVEN NIGHT.

AND I FOR ONE, IF WE ENTERED SID IN THAT HUNT, AND BY SOME CRAZY REASON SID WERE TO WIN THAT THING BY TREEING A POSSUM, OVER A DOG THAT ONLY TREED COONS, I'D BE ASHAMED TO TAKE THE TROPHY/MONEY/WHATEVER, BECAUSE EVEN THOUGH ON PAPER SID WON, HE WAS NOT THE COON DOG THAT NIGHT OR HE WOULDN’T HAVE TREED THE POSSUM.

Im pretty sure he wasn't asking for all your smart ass opinions on the hunt, and he sure as hell wasn't asking you all permission to have it. If you dont like dont go simple dont post get off the thread and quit running your mouth. No one is forcing you to go and hunt under their rules are they. Im sure there are just as many people out there that like the rules and that will go because of the format of the hunt!!

well atleast someone has some common sense. If you want different rules than maybe you should put up the money and start your own hunt with your own rules.

I must have Curs!?

NO, I DO NOT HAVE A CUR. I HAVE WALKER HOUNDS. BUT......I'M NOT HUNTING IN IT. I'M THE JUDGE. MY CLUB MEMBERS CAME UP WITH THE IDEA OF USING CUR & FIEST RULES. ALL YOUR DOGS HAS TO DO IS TREE THE COON FIRST, AND MORE OF THEM! AS FAR AS RUNNING INTO PROBLEMS, WE DO HAVE SOME MEMBERS WHO ARE IN LAW ENFORCEMENT, SO NOT A PROBLEM. DON'T BE AFRAID TO PUT YOUR REG. DOGS AGAINST THE CURS & FIEST OR GRADE DOGS. YOU DON'T EVEN HAVE TO GIVE YOUR REAL DOG'S NAME. THIS HUNT IS TO BE FUN FOR EVERYONE!!!
COME ON BY,LET'S HAVE A GOOD TIME!

everyone should try and support other clubs and different hunts instead of trying to bring them down because its not tht exact way you would do it!!!
