This Is Worth A Million $$$$$

AS A PERSON WHO STARTS AND HUNTS DOGS FOR OTHERS THIS LETTER MEANS THE WORLD TO ME...............................................

hi gary, i've had deb out twice since getting her back the first night we treed under a shed. and hit two other woods but no strikes i guess the coons were not running that night. took her out last night before the big storm hit with my buddies night champ we treed a double and his dog left the tree and left deb there by herself. i popped the first coon out and she finished that one off by herself. so i popped the second coon and it came out with a little more life. she jumped in on it and chased it between mine and my buddies legs a couple of times. man does she sound sweet.

all in all i'm well satisfied with the progress you made with her and want to thank you

THIS IS A YOUNG B & T FEMALE THAT I HAVE HUNTED FOR ABOUT 6 WEEKS AND SHE IS ON HER WAY TO MAKING A COONDOG......

Shooting 2 coon out of the same tree? It won't be long before you have her back to fix her.

I was always told one tree one coon, My dad would kill me if I shot more than one coon out of the same tree. He said it only teachs the dog to go back to the same tree and wait for another coon to drop out. So one tree one coon,(JMO).

Amazing

It always amazes me how some people know exactly how many coons other people have on their property. People automatically want to bash this guy for shooting two coons out of one tree, yet I did not see where they asked for any info on his property like 1) how many coon have been killed from there over the last two years 2) does anyone do any trapping there 3) do you have an intense farming area that will support a large coon population 4) Are you hunting a farm where the landowner needs them killed out? I very rarely kill coons, and some nights I only see a few coons, but other nights I see 30 plus. Hides in south Arkansas are not worth killing them for, so no one traps them down here. Therefore I guess I am blessed with a sometimes too large population (distemper normally thins them out every 6-8 years). But before someone automatically post negative comments about someone shooting two coons out of one tree, they might want to consider other factors.

Most areas in Michigan are loaded with coon. If any thing we loose more to disease than what many coon hunters harvest.

Last year I let my son shoot his first coon. I was going to tan it for him, but we ended up burying it under a bunch of logs and debris. It was very sick. Then what makes matters worse if the farmers get mad with too many coons they start poisoning them. I understand everyone's initial concern, but it is misplaced in this instance.

Congrats Gary!!!! On your success!

Funny most likely the ones bitching about shooting a few coon out through season are the same ones shooting nearly every coon out year round!!! I live where there are plenty of coon some areas are more than others, and most every year I harvest around 100, does not seem to hurt the population as of yet and I have been doing this for 25+ years! Ask alot of hunters that know me and when they are at a hunt hope like heck I end up guiding them!!!

One per tree should do ol blue. If you have a need to kill more have at it. Hope you don't hunt my hunting spots.

Top hide prices last week at trade days were in the $20 range. Keep those type prices and the trappers and spot lighters will be back in business.

I have seen more interest in hunters looking for a decent hound to buy in the past few months.

I have shot out 5 in the last five years. They just isnt many coon where I am from this should make the dog go back to the same tree also.Smart dogs dont need coons shot to them anyway thats what they are bred for.

Theres a difference between hunting coons and just running dogs. I run dogs in the summer, when kill season comes around I hunt coon. When killing time comes I shoot everyone thats treed. Too many coon around here, farmers want them shot. If you don't shoot you might lose your spot to hunt. Dropping more than one out of a tree at a time has never caused any sort of problem for me. Those dogs know if there is more than one. Before anyone gets too critical of others they should relize that its none of their buisness how many coons someone else shoots. However, I also agree that a dog shouldn't have to have coon shot to them to keep them interested in hunting.

I have shot as many as 4 coons out of 1 tree when I say im going coon hunting im going coon hunting im not going out there to look at a few coons and leave, in the summer if i get bored i will take the dog out just to kill some time and keep her in shape but I gotta say 1 thing this site is a little scary seems like a bunch of antis are running hounds? What gives any of you lamers the right to tell the man how many coons he can or cant shoot out of a tree if I were him id tell you where to go straight to hell. And as for the dog going back to the tree what the heck kinda drugs are you smoking thats the lamest thing I have ever herd in my 26 years of life.So if I take my lab out duck hunting and shoot 3 ducks is he going to keep going out in looking for more ducks hell no he aint same with a hound you think that scent is still going to attract that dog a few days down the road hell no it aint I think you people are smart enough to know that hounds dont find coons with there eyes they use there Nose!!!!!!!God you people crack me up.

Trapper4life

I know this is going to get out of hand, but man statements like yours is the reason that none of us will be hunting in the future.
Guys that come on here and brag about slaughtering coons is not going to do any good for you, your dog, or anyone else on here that enjoys hunting. If you want to slaughter coons please keep it to yourself, personally I would llike for myself and my children to be able to hunt for many years to come. I'm not trying to bash anyone on here, but the antis are gaining ground everyday and if you can't see it, you need to open your eyes a little wider.
