I had a Jack several years ago, that I used as a kill dog. Meanest little S.O.B I ever seen.

I know they can be used on fox and especially on squirrell. I have a 7 year old female that would hunt for mice and rats if i let her 24-7. Never tried her in the woods on a coon but ive seen her tree on one for a long time, never barked once. just jumping on tree. Coon she was treeing on was a coon that was in a cage hung up in tree for pup.

I have a 8 year old JR/Rat Terrier cross that is our all around dog. He herds our horses, babysits my son, goes coon hunting in the timber and old buildings, and pheasant hunting. My husband takes him bird hunting every time, doesn't go too far and weaves back and forth to flush 'em. He's one of those dogs that you know you'll never ever have another one like him.

JRT's

well i just got this little guy, who is 3 weeks old in this pic, waiting to pick him up in a few more weeks. i'd like to use him for some kind of hunting, don't want him as just a house dog. that's why i was wondering who has used them on what.

i'm excited to hear this cause we are moving out to south dakota. we're being stationed at ellsworth w/ the air force, so i sold my hound and picked up a jack pup, and was thinking it would be a lot of fun to use him on pheasant but thought maybe the tall grass would be tough on them being short dogs... but i suppose they have so much energy they just don't really wear down.

Jack Russells were bred to hunt underground. I use mine on groundhogs, coon, possum and fox.

I have a lilttle female here anything outside better climb or it's dead. She goes totally nuts over baby bunnies, if they squel she shakes them harder. If a chicken gets out of the chicken yard she is ok until you tell her to get it.....then it's over. I would get another one there great to have around

yeah had my female catch a few bunnies. She couldnt catch a full grown rabbit for anything. Loves to chase squirrels up a tree and goes nuts when buzzards circle near.

Yeah, they are gritty, but I haven't seen one that would fit in the ground.

if they are gritter than the jack female we have ,i dont want one as it would have to be "sue'i'side'al" to being gritter than her..

she thinks she is 10' tall and bullet-proof

she even tryed to take on me and the flyswatter,,,she ended up under the rocker chair (her safe haven) ,as long as she does her growling in her safe haven ,i let her be ,but when she gets in my face showing all her teeth ,my #12d boot will remind her who is bigger in a hurry..lol

We have JRT's. We use them on squirrel, coon and bunnies.
They also desimate the ground moles.
I have some pics of mine on our website under the training pics.
http://www.ironwoodredbones.com

**Shameless plug: ** We have a litter of 5 FLASHY pups right now as well. Ready to go after they get their first shots on the 16th. $50 adoption fee. Two spoken for, someone coming today to look... going fast! Grandma (squirrel and coon DREAM), dam and sire all here for viewing. Raised in the house.
