BBOA & Southern English Assn

This event has been approved by both assns and will be located in North Carolina for the Bluetick & English members to enjoy in the month of October this year. Darrell & Rhonda Brown and Zone 5 Officers will be making final steps to set this event this coming weekend. This event will also provide Bluetick and English owners in the South a great opportunity to promote and gather for 2 UKC Nite hunts and Bench Shows with points being awarded for placing in the event and cast wins for the "Team Concept" in the true spirit of competition. Be looking for more information regarding this event in our ads and columns and I hope to see you folks there this Oct.

Special Thanks to Darrell & Rhonda Brown and the Officers of the Southern English Assn, BBOA Zone 5 Officers David Gardin, Jimmy Christian, David Letherwood, & Charles Locklear and from the Albermarle club Bill & Eva Bennett for working together on this event

Sounds great. We don't seem to get too many "big" events in the Southern part of the US, but the one's we do get all seem to be hitting during October...we also have BBCHA Fall Round Up and Alabama State Championship. It's going to be difficult to choose which ones to attend!

Can anyone confirm if Fall Round Up and Alabama State are scheduled for the same weekend? I was thinking they are.

Now you have went and done it. Now I got to choose between which dog to hunt since I have both. I guess the Blues have it , No the Blues came from the English. Oh well I am glad this is coming off no matter what dog you hunt. I think it will be a big event for years to come and knowing Darrell Brown and Rhonda Brown things will be handled right on their ends and that goes for everyone else involved. Good Job Blue English Crew. Hmm I have one of those too.

Well, I'm going to be there, going to mix in some visiting with my daughter and soon to be son-in-law, and best part of it all is I'll be guiding back to some of my old hunting spots !!!!!! Already talked with my old hunting partner and he said the coon are there again, some spots rougher than others due to the timber being cut several years ago, but plenty of coon. I am looking forawrd to being back in NC for some coon hunting, and this should be a prime example of true Southern Hospitality !!!!

Look forward to seeing you all there !!!!!!!!!

Close David

I spent 20 years at Ft Bragg, NC 8 years in the 82nd, then went over to the SF (Special Forces) side for 7 years, and then was recruited into Special Opns and went to work with my former Boss Gen Henrey Shelton out behind the fence. I went to Ranger School while I was in the 82nd and graduated (darn tough course) but the hardest I think was the "Q" course of SF.

Yep I've meet and have the pleasure of calling many folks friends, and through the years of coon hunting and traveling to the hunts (16+ years) I have found many avenues that have come my way thanks to kindness, and just being friendly and saying
"Thank You"........and I would call that being a lucky guy.....good friends who enjoy what I enjoy......coon hunting and having fun.

See You there !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You are correct, the Q course was harder than the Ranger Course. I was with the 75th in Benning in 85' and attached to the 82nd RDF through 86'. Did you ever meet a General Speigelmire? A Brig. Gen. A fine man. Hey man were you in Bragg in 86 when Lt Gen Foss took over? He was the stuff. I did some training with him in Benning and I was at his Promotion and FAREWELL party. Fine man. Nice looking daughter too. He sent me on my way as soon as he noticed I knew her name. Still a fine man though. Julie was her name,,,,just remembered. Take care man I'm rambling. Later!

BS1...........do you really have to ask ????

TCB, reported to 504th PIR in 1976 after basic, AIT, and jump School and stayed there till 1984, then went Snake eater with 7th SFG. Shelton was my Reg Commander in the 504th, and also the Group Cmd for 7th before he got his Star and went over to Special Opns.........thats when I got the call and after training reported in 1992.........and then went and saw the World !!!!

I was in the 82nd when Jumping Robbie Robinson was the Cmd and boy did he love to jump..........I think that is all we ever did, jump and hump and during the fuel shortage we humped back after each jump from the DZ, and those were some long nights LOL !!!!!!

I took my pathfinder course at Benning......nice post to visit but just was not Bragg !!!!!!!!!!

Any idea on how prizes will be awarded (King/Queen of Show/Hunt)? Will it be per breed or an overall - with both breeds in the running?

I'm not sure what the committee ended up voting on, so I will not go into detail, but I would hope that it would involve the 2 breeds that this event is being hosted for, and I do know (or can say) that any Bluetick winning any portion of the event will get qualified for the 2004 Bluetick Invitational Show, just as any Bluetick winning their cast with plus points will qualify for the Bluetick Invitational Hunt.

Before anyone should ask...........no don't know who will judge the show's but the committee will secure the BSJ/MOH for the event, and I'm looking forward to coming back down South to hunt, visit and get to see my Daughter and my future Son-In-Law

hot off the press

OK, here goes....the committee voted on the following things to take place

Over all winner of the hunt will be based on the single overall cast win

All Best of Show, CH & GR CH winners from Friday & Saturday will come back and show for the overall Complete Show winner.

There will be a Dog box for the high scoring Bluetick and English in the hunts, using the Assn rules governing the scoring of the event (BBOA double cast win) and they must be members of said organization.

There will be High Scoring Trophies for the other 4 Breeds for this event.

We will be having a Dual CH, Dual GR CH and Pairs show on Sat for this event

There will be a traveling trophy for the winning organization to display at major events for the winner of the

"Southern Fall Classic"

Date: October 17 & 18th in New London, North Carolina

Team scores will be based on points earned from UKC in the Nite Hunt and an additional 10 points for the NT CH & GR NT CH of the hunt.

Be looking for the ads in the Bloodlines in Sept & Oct for Directions and Times !!!!!!!

I hope to see you there !!!!!!!!

let's see

New London is near Albermarle in the western central area not as far west as Salsbury but west of Carthage, Sandford Rockingham area is the best way for me to explain it. The Big Oak Coon Club helps put on SETW Days so they are strong enough with help from some close by clubs to pull this hunt off. I can be back to my hunting grounds in Carthage, Candor area in about 45 minutes and with the hwy now in place there (old 220) they can be back by Sandford, Snow Camp, High Point, Mocksville, in less than an hour so lots of possible hunting spots will be available for us.

The Bluetick Invitational Hunt is covered in the Bluebook, but down and dirty "any dog (Bluetick of course) winning his/her cast with plus points at an offical sponsored BBOA event gets an invite to the Invitational hunt held at Bluetick Days Thur night. We also invite cast winners from Autumn Oaks, Winter Classic, and any Bluetick in the Top 20 from the World.

The Show part is new and will take part in 2004, as this year 2003 is the qualifing year. Any Bluetick Winning Best of Show Male/Female, Champion Male/Female or Grand Champion Male/Female or King or Queen of Show will be invited for an overall Invitational Show off to be held at Bluetick Days.

Now, if you are showing a Champion male and at this show you get beat by a another breed, we "DO NOT" pick a Bluetick for this catergory for the invitational, that is why we also include the King & Queen. If any portion of the show is won by an off breed then that spot is left open and not filled for the Invitational.

The Invitational Show will have special awards and special cup award just like the Hunt does and other items for the winner and opposite sex winner. They will get a special section in the Bluebook and its just another way to get Blues from all over the country to come and compete against each other at our National event.

Without going into more detail thats the nuts and bolts of the Invitational

You say this is covered in the bluebook, 2002, 2003 or the one for 2004? Just curious cause I dont have one. I'll have to pick one up somewhere. Also, is this invitation mailed or do you call or what? Just trying to find out, mine won Queen at a BBOA sectional - would that count?
