Boone is out of Dohoney's Mike, Mike's dam and sire were directly out of old Hickory Nut Harry, being kinda inbred.

Ole Boone goes back to Spring Creek Rock. This was Mike Dohoneys foundation stock. Starting with his Ringo dog. His Banjo dog was out of Boone Creek Mike. He had several females off of his old Lucky female(Boones grandmother) that were really crossing well on Ringo(Older full brother to Red Oak Lightning, direct off of Spring Creek Rock) So he looked for a male off the cross, which ended up being Nitech Dohoney's Mike, to cross back on Ringo's full sisters. The thing about Lucky was that she only threw one male in every litter, according to Mike she was always like this. Boone is out of Mike and Super Star, Star is a younger sister to Ringo. I ll post a full pedigree on Boone tomorrow, I ll have to dig out some old papers around here.

White head is right there is some Old Hickory Nut Harry back in there on these dogs but its no closer than third generation on old Boone, if that.

Dohoney's Mike is Boone's sire.

Dohoney's Mike's sire is a direct son of Harry.
Dohoney's Mike's dam is a direct daughter of Harry.

In other words, if not for Tim Ball, there would be no Dohoney's Boone.

I don't believe that Mr. Ball bred Harry. If I am not mistaken it was James Merchant.

Ball studded Harry when the crosses to get Buckeye Ranger and Buckeye Lucky were made.

A big thank you to Tim for helping Dohoney to get Boone.

also a big thank you for finley river cheif and johnson's banjo on the moma's side too ,without her wouldnt have been no boone either.........................

people give old hickery nut a lot of credit for producing a lot of coondogs but in being real ,do a search ,most of the dogs that people give old harry credit for came from a very few of his male pups that had a good female bred to them ...

think about it how many reproducers did old harry throw beside's bozo?????????

make a list for us...

just like the new harry dog ,they give old harry credit for him but old harry is so far back in the blood that there's more johnson's banjo blood in him than they want to give credit to..

without f.r cheif/s.c rock/johnson's banjo there may never been another dog like boone...

Boone and old Harry were both weak reproducers, about 6% nt champions. While the younger Harry 12% and Rat Attack 14%.

Doug
Thanks for the pedigree, was just now getting around to gettin it posted today.

It was Merchant that bred old Harry. Tim Ball has rode on the shirt tails of all of the great breeders in our breed. He has a lil money and a ton of Bull, I guess thats all it takes to promote dogs to most hunters out there. In Stylish Harry's defence, if bred to the right kind of gyp he threw some nice dogs, however, most were just treedogs. %'s or not I have hunted with a ton of them, I live in "Harry Country" and there is definitely a bunch of them around. In case you were wondering IMO Tim Ball isnt worthy enough to blow the dust off of Mike Dohoney's shoes....Its just an OPINION but its MINE.

In Boones defence on his %'s, Mike Dohoney once told me prolly 50% of his pups went to pleasure hunters and never saw the hunts. He also said that was fine with him, pleasure hunters are way harder to please than a competition hunter anyday.

Another fact is ...every dog out there had to come from somewhere, whether it was an accidental breeding or years of hard work by a responsible breeder.

Jim Whitehead...a question for you is.....

Are you related, associated with or in cohorts with...

A. Terry Cline
B. Mac M.
C. Bill Johnson
or
D. All of the above????

I mean...it seems like you are all taking hits from the same crack pipe. Always so negative about everything and frankly I am bored with it.

Dohoney's Boone=6%
Ball's Stylish Harry=11.31% and climbing.
Rat Attack=14.80% and climbing.

there is a reason some dogs offspring goes to pleasure hunters, and others find their way to a hunt.

There are pleasure horses and there are race horses.
