works very good, im using a garmin 220 and 320 to compare the 2. Havent lost signal yet with the DC40. The cradle charger works alot better than the cord for the DC30

the 40 is as good if not better than the 30. it has at least a half to three quaters of a mile more range with the standard ant. just make sure to update it if it goes not have the 4.0 software

I seen my buddies DC-40 do something last night I have never seen before. Maybe some of you will have a good explanation.

Turned dogs loose, at about 315 yards his DC40 sort of froze up. It never showed a question mark on the screen. Just simply showed the dog standing, with no movement. We watched this for about 10 minutes and decided the dog must have lost its collar. We went to the spot where the receiver said the collar was but could not find the collar. Receiver would say 15 yards go to about ten yards and then say the collar was near, just as they all do. We stopped looking for a minute and heard the dogs treed about 1/2 mile from this spot. So we went to the dogs and the DC40 was still on the dog. So my question was "why did that receiver think the collar was in the spot that we originally went to? The thing never (appeared) to loose connection from the handheld but the collar (obviously) was not where the receiver thought it was. Any ideas???

I bought a new 40 last summer. Had horrible range- 300 yards? had it reprogrammed, did not get better. Sent it in under warranty. Just got it back yesterday- did not have time to give it a full charge, but hunted with it last night. had good range. First three drops dogs never got over 600 yards but it never dropped coverage. Can't wait to test it on next hunt.

I have seen my 220 do that sort of stuff all the time, mostly with the dc 30 collar thou, I upgraded to the 320 and 40's and have not seen it happen yet. I am betting it is the receiver and not the collar.
