Once a day…they should cleaning the bowl in about 5 minutes…if there are leftovers the feed will be gradually cut back until the bowl is empty after 5 minutes or so…

Twice a day. Early morning and after hunting. That way they never hunt on an empty stomach.

There was an actual scientific study done back in 2022, a pool of 10,000 dogs of all age and breeds were evaluated and study proved that dogs showed to be healthier when fed once a day. The idea of feeding animals multiple meals a day is a product of our own tendency of anthropomorphic behavior when it comes to pets. There are even vets that still recommend feeding twice a day even though studies show that this cause gastrointestinal problems, issues with the kidneys and liver, and obesity.

Personally I feed once a day, always in the evening and always after a hunt. Of course water is always available for them, hydration is super important. If you do a little research into dogs, both wild and domestic you will learn that dogs nap so much to conserve energy. By doing this they ensure they are always ready when time to hunt. As long as you feed a quality feed at the proper proportions then once a day is perfectly fine.

I always fed once a day until I had a 5 yr. old bluetick female experience Gastric Torsion. Fortunately I was home and out in the yard to hear her having a barking fit. She was never a noisy dog in the kennel. I spoke to her a couple times and she just kept barking incessantly. When I went to the kennel she was bloated up like she’d swallowed a flour barrel. I knew something was very wrong and called the vet. Rushed her to the clinic and they diagnosed her with Gastric Torsion or a flipped stomach.

Most dogs die from this if it’s not caught quickly. I was fortunate and caught it. Had I not been home she would have died a very painful death. I’ve fed twice a day ever since and never had it happen again. I also feed good quality dry dog food which does not expand as bad as the poor quality dog foods when mixed with water.
