 Alpha 200 battery

My alpha 200 always says the battery is 100% until it dies on me in the woods and i put a charger on it. The screen will say what it's currently at while charging. Once it hits 100% it says that until it dies again. Long story short i never know what battery percentage its at and wondering if its the actual handheld or the battery?
