Never

Should not use on a pup. I recommend wait til they are a year old before giving a pup ivamectin. Before doing so ,I would take it to the vet to get it checked for heartworms first.

Ivomectrin is safe for puppies. Heartgard can be used as young as 6 weeks. Some start theirs at 8 weeks I usually start my pups on ivomec at around 3 months.

Ivermectin

I will start a pup on ivermectin around 12 weeks. I have been doing this for over 30 years without issues. It may not be the right thing to do but most of these dogs live a long life. My Vet knows I do this and has never questioned it.

Do yourself a favor and start them on cydectin. There are several slowly realizing that ivomec is not working in some areas. The dosages are more but it's because of the amount of active ingredient. 1/2 cc for 10lb of body weight.
