Rules, misconceptions,

Over the last few weeks I have heard and seen some things that just make ya scratch your head.

A couple weeks ago a guy demanded that nobody could shake grape vines or tap on a tree when scoring the tree. When a guy is insistent he's right it often creates problems that really just don't need to happen.

I was judging a cast a couple weeks ago and my dog was struck in carrying 25 strike points when a dog was declared treed 500 yards left handed. We went to score the treed dog and after scoring the dog the handler wanted me to put the 8 on my dog. I said no we're going to go to the last place we heard him and then start the 8. We walked to the last place we were standing when we heard him last and I started the 8. I said let's move up as he was trailing away from us when we went to score the other dog. The handler said no he wasn't walking we had to stand right there and run the 8 and I wasn't allowed to walk anywhere. Now this ended up causing a major argument and issue that just was totally unnecessary.

The dangerous guys in the sport at the ones who are clueless but think they know how to apply all the rules. Teach the youth the right way while you can LOL

A little bit of knowledge can be dangerous esp when coupled with a little attitude. In my experience its usually the guy that tells ya upfront they don't take this stuff to seriously that's the first one to start an argument lol.
