I watched the PBP of the Final Cast of the PKC WORLD HUNT and got to witness a Coon Dog operate. Goose treed 4 singles while the other 2 dogs treed 3 singles combined. Goose put on a Clinic, treed 4 times and had the coon 4 times, amazing performance considering that he is not even 2 years old, he will be 2 in 3 weeks. The other 2 dogs are both top coon dogs, but GOOSE was on a different level last night. Congratulation Goose and Mr. Manning, I sure enjoyed the show. Dave

Very impressive. In a day where you hear competition hunting is ruining coondogs you have to scratch your head. 3 dogs treed 7 coons on a 90 minute stopwatch.

Dave,
I just ran a two year old through a hay meadow- over deer after deer, most of which were in sight, and he never turned his head. I hunted this pup alone all last season as a one year old and treed better than a hundred coon. He has a big mouth, a great handle, and looks to spare. If these are the dogs that competition has ruined, sign me up for a few more. These are the good old days.

What happened to all this stuff about deep and alone after listening to the ukc world hunt play x play the dogs treed most of there coons 200 to 500 yards from being cast and recast off each tree that female that got scratched in the ukc finals was doing pretty much the same as goose did and she is 2 yr old also

Was just thinking today, been following dogs 60 yrs. And yes the hounds are better today. No thinking what are they running. No having to break your neck getting there before they leave. No having to leave the coat, go find them the next day. But I might be the only hunter that has experienced these wonderful memories.

From what I read "Goose" dominated that cast...eliminateing the need for human interference ! JMO .... strike M/tree M, no whinning .....the way it ought ta b.

Mr. Grant I started hunting in 1978 and everything you posted I've seen or done myself we usually had 2 or 3 average to common dogs 1 would stay treed good I started hunting with a farmer down the road he had a good old Harry bred gyp and she was nice that changed my thinking about needing 2 or more dogs we also used to walk thru mile sections and have someone drive around and pick us up

Folks, you hear about these circle tree monsters winning hunts all the time.. I've hunted several PKC casts and UKC casts the last few years..

I sure havent seen it.. If ive won, it's because we've had coons in our trees and when we got beat, it's because they had coons in their trees..

Couple casts the cheaters got us, but the majority of the time the right dog won for the given time frame of the hunt period..

Lot of good coon dogs out there right now and thats a fact!!
