In my opinion yes. I see post after post about the maps and with a little understanding of the system. The newest updates and an understanding of just what the different maps are. Will get what you need. Has it got a little more complicated than necessary. Perhaps, but that is what technology is doing in our life. Giving us a lot of choices but a learning curve also comes with those choices.

First of all. All topo maps are not the same. Second the topo maps that come on the alpha 200i doesn't have the same detail for all regions. Down here in FL the version that comes on the 200i doesn't have the detail of the swamp roads and buggy trails the 100k 0r 24k topo maps on the AlPHA 100 or even the 320 have. You say that you want birdseye and don't worry about topo. Well to be happy with your birdseye you need it overlayed with a topo map. Many don't know this or have a clue about it. I want to see what the land looks like from the sky. But I also want to see roads with names when they have them. The Huntview card has both 24K topo and birdseye layered together and gives you the best option in my opinion.

Beyond the mapping detail. Garmin has given you the option to create more contrast on your mapping color along with making the map brighter. Found in settings oner the map menu. Don't see it. Update your system. I can look on a farmers field and with some button pushing see the detail of the plowed rows that were there when the photo was taken. It is all there but you have to lean it. You can learn it from your easy chair on a Sunday afternoon when it is raining outside. Jut take it and go through your menu and see what it has to offer. Google and read the difference of a birdseye map, a top map, property owners map. Look at the menu on your alpha and activate a map and see the changes or deactivate a map and see the changes. What most people need is there in the palm of their hand. They just don't practice with it. I will say that I am still disappointed in the available color of the tracks. I like brighter colors and I think they need a larger selection of brighter color so I can easily see my dog tracks.
