Timothy Ball Obituary

Tinsley Timothy Ball
April 14, 1933 ~ May 26, 2021 (age 88)

Tinsley Timothy Ball, Jr. was born April 14, 1933, near Stanford, Kentucky, to Tinsley and Bernice Sprinkles Ball. He attended Standard schools, graduating in 1951. He was a graduate of Campbellsville Junior College and Georgetown College.

In 1955 he preached a revival at Amity Baptist Church, Amity, IN, where he met Adona Joann Harrison. They were married June 1, 1956. Timothy pastored New Salem Baptist Church in rural Kentucky before they moved to Ft. Worth, Texas, where he was graduated from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary with a BD and Master of Theology. Mr. Ball was a gifted expository preacher.

Mr. Ball was pastor of Comanche First Baptist Church from 1961 through 1970. During these Comanche years the family grew to include Timothy Alan Ball (1961-1985), Adona Lynn Ball (1963-1998), and Amy Prudence Ball (1965).

In 1970 Brother Ball became pastor of First Baptist Church, Healdton, serving until 1978. He served Meridian Baptist Church (1979-1984) and Mary Niblack Baptist Church (1986-1998). He enjoyed preaching revivals and interim pastorates.

Timothy was an avid sportsman. He loved basketball and playing and umpiring fast pitch softball! He was a Kentucky Wildcats fan all of his life. As a boy he fished and hunted rabbits and squirrels. A brother-in-law introduced him to coon hunting…and all other sports dimmed in comparison! This became his passionate hobby. He raised several renowned coon dogs, loved unique dog names, wrote many ads, and developed the Timothy Ball Coon Squaller.

Timothy never recovered from a fall on March 12 and died at Elk Crossing on May 26, 2021.

Timothy’s eternal home in Heaven was assured when he came a Christian at age 16 in a dairy barn. He felt God’s call to preach on his life and served faithfully. His homegoing was sweeter because he was welcomed to Heaven by two children, Timothy Alan and Adona Lynn. He was also preceded in death by his parents and five sisters: Lyda, Jean, Maye, Kate, and Fanlee.

He is survived by wife Joann and daughter Amy (Mark) of Arcata, CA. Grandchildren include Lindsi Ball Conyer (Aaron) of Ardmore and Hank Wicklund of Arcata. His four great grand daughters are Aspen Page, Talyn Piper, Ryleigh Parker, and Lyric Peyton Conyer all of Ardmore. His sister-in-law and family (Dr. David and Joyce Harms) live in Texas and Cindy Harrison lives in Upland, CA. Nieces and nephews include Mark and Michael Harms, Davina Harms Rodriguez, Jordan Hart, Larry, Paula, and Roger Blanton, Susan, Gayle, and Sonny Spoonamore, John Reed, Gary and Steve Deathridge, Stan Soper, J. R. Reed, Todd and Craig Harrison; and daughter-in-law Dawna Ball Dickson.

Family visitation will be Monday evening, May 31, 5:30-7:30 at Whitt Funeral Home. Casual dress for the visitation and funeral is encouraged.

Funeral services will be at New Hope Baptist Church West, Duncan, on Tuesday, June 1, 2021, at 1:30 P.M. under the direction of Chaplain Bill Crow and Pastor Randy Southerland, assisted by Allen Kimberlin, Jason Hawkins, and Brent Hale. Family members will serve as pall bearers. Live streaming of the service will be available at youtube.com/newhopeduncan. Interment will be at Fairlawn Cemetery near Comanche.

Memorial gifts may be made to One True Light by mail at PO Box 1883, Duncan, OK 73534 or online at https://www.onetruelight.net/donate or to Casa David by mail at PO Box 693, Columbus, GA 31902 or online at https://www.casadavidhn.com/donate

Mr. Ball

Truly one of a kind, a gifted ad writer that made you look and read his ads on coon dogs. We will miss him that's for sure. My condolences to his family and friends. Dave

Condolences

A friend of my dad gave me his Full Cry and American Cooner magazines back in the early 70"s , as a kid I couldn't wait to read MR. Ball's adds . He never convinced me to get a Walker coonhound but he sure did make them sound good, I kept reading them until he stopped writing, First thing I looked for in the magazine. I never got to meet him but I felt as tho I knew him from all those adds. May he rest in peace and be with his beloved walkers.

I knew Tim for about 40 years and I never saw Tim when he wasn’t a gentleman. A very nice man that always had the time to talk to the youths or anyone just getting into hunting.

If Trump would have hired Tim to take over his Twitter account Trump would still be the president.
Tim was the greatest promoter the coondog world has ever had. Hands down.
