Not perfect and nowhere near a coon dog, but well on his way.
This pup was lightly started when I bought him 4 months ago. I’ve hunted him alone a lot and I’ve hunted him right.
His biggest hole is his accuracy (like most of them), especially off colder tracks. When coon are stirring and track are medium to hot, he can tree'em quick.
He’ll tree his own coon. Very loud, doesn't care what other dogs are doing and a classy tree dog (no bad tree habits). He hunts good alone, but is not a straight line hunter. He gets his mouth open quick. He starts hunting where cast and hunts out all around you, usually in a circle. He responds well to correction whether a switch or collar. He'll bump a little junk, but not bad about it at all. When he bumped junk, he always fell off and got treed. I'm sure eventually he will, but so far he hasn't treed a possum, nor holed a diller. He has treed one bobcat.
Price - $3,000 and I’ll show him alone or with others. He’ll do the same thing regardless.
I usually hunt an older seasoned dog but took a notion to fool with a young dog for a while. I’ve enjoyed hunting him but going back to an older seasoned dog that’s ready to compete in a few major events.
