old dogs and hot weather

For anyone thats hunted lately. Are yalls dogs getting real tired and fast fast breathing after treeing ? I was gonna do 2 turnouts the other night but held off. I was concerned. The ole dog is 10 years old now and i was wondering if it was just her age or if others are getting really tired too ?

Mine turns 10 in 3 weeks. Yeah, heavy breaths. I carry water with me. I feed low fat food. I will move several times to drop each time, allow her to cool off and reguvinate in between drops. She is still the hardest going dog I have.

In hot weather dogs that heat up quick or hard tree dogs i used water with some electrolytes in it.Follow the instructions,it seemed to help out especially if you plan on hunting more that night.

If its hot at night I don't take the old dog. She has more heart and drive than my dog but her body just doesn't hold up real well. I've found out that as long as its 60 or below she holds up better. Carry water with you and try not to over do it.

Old dogs/Old men

Old dogs and old men alike do not do good in hot weather. I burn up and pant like a freight train, can't wait for cold weather. Lol. Dave
