I believe he's in his 90s now. My step dad knew him pretty well and I got to hunt with him a lot when I was young. I got to see Stylish Harry go for one turn out and hunted with Stylish Gold on a regular basis.

Yes I hunted with Gold quite a bit. He looked just like his sire Bawling Rebel. Black headed and blanket backed. He was smaller than Rebel though. Probably around 60 lbs.

He was a quick strike dog and had a big bawl mouth on track and chop on tree. He was independent but would also cover. He didn't have any bad habits at the tree that I remember.

One hunt I always remember was with my Dad, my brother, Timothy and I. My Dad was hunting his Grand Nite Bluetick that he called T-Bone. Timothy was hunting Gold and my brother and I were hunting a young dog out of Rebel we called Ticket (he was half brother to Gold). We were hunting on a ranch near Wilson Oklahoma and on the first turn loose Ticket and Gold got split treed. T-Bone backed Gold.

Well my brother and I headed to Ticket and he was on top of a big hill treed on the only tree around. It was a hollow but we could see the coon so we wanted to pull him out to reward Ticket and to show Dad and Tim how our dog had done. I should add that my brother was probably 10 and I was probably 15 years old at the time and we didn't have a rifle. Anyways we jumped the coon out and ticket went to fighting it and we soon realized that this coon was too much for this young dog and we went to trying to help. One of wielding the leash and the other a tree branch. We eventually got the coon dispatched after what seemed like an eternity but was probably only 5 mins.

So we carried our coon down to Gold and T-Bone's tree and they had a coon also. Dad and Tim weren't as impressed with our bounty as we thought they would be but I will always remember that night.

Most hunts with Gold went this way. He was a pleasure to hunt with. I wouldn't say he did any one particular thing exceptionally well he was just a solid balanced hound that showed you coons and stayed out of trouble.

So to sum it up I think Gold was loud, accurate, independent and could work a track. He was also bred very well being out of Bawling Rebel and Fear This who was a sister to Cutter, Hammer, Rube etc (the Harry x Abby cross).

I have a grand daughter to Bawling Rebel now that I would like to breed to some Gold semen someday.

Hope this helps.

Cheers,
Coby
