Whelping box or just large dog house?

I have a litter coming and I have a very large dog house. Should I just use it like it or try to turn it in to a Whelping box?
Any pics or suggestions
Thanks

Put a 1x4 around the inside about 4 inches high and you should be fine.

I agree with using 2x4 boards..you can add more nails which makes it sturdier...

The 2x4 is a safe guard for the pups...this rail will help keep the pups from getting crushed by the brood gyp...

Also in the hot summer months I add a sun barrier between the dog house roof and the sun...I use a 4’ x 4’ plywood and it is set at least 4 inches above the roof...nothing fancy...just a sun barrier with an air gap...this drops the temperature in the dog house considerably during the hottest part of the day...

I don’t have pictures so can’t help you on that...
