I liked it when I fed it. Started out at $21 but kept going up till it got about $30. So I switched to K9 Rage which is about $21 and I like it pretty good. My dogs get hunted4-6 nights a week.

I fed it until the feed store near me closed and I couldn't get it conveniently anymore. By far the best feed I have found for the money, was paying 22.50 per bag for the 22-12 orange bag Valu Pak Free for adult dogs at first, but it hit 24.50 before Burkmann's closed. The black bag makes dang good puppy food too, but it was around $30 per bag if I am remembering correctly. Dogs coats were always shiny and never had any health problems I could attribute to the food over the four or so years I fed it. Switched back to Purina Dog Chow after the store closed, but I would much rather feed Valu Pak if I could find it.

I fed it for awhile. A lot of cleanup in the kennels and I had to mix other feed in with it to keep weight on the dogs in cold weather. I wouldn’t feed it again even if it was $15 a bag.

I've been feeding it since it first came out which has been quiet a few years. Started out with the 24/20 that originally came out in the white bag with red letters and now comes in a red bag with white letters. This contains corn! Dogs love it and not a lot of cleanup. Feed it year round just increase amount in winter when running hard and feed light in summer. Don't ever see any ads on this feed any more but still avalible.

.

I started feeding the Black Bag a year or so ago. Dogs like it, clean up is good. My buddy has his deer hounds on it and they hold up good during season on it. My only concern is now the discussion about Grain Free food causing heart problems.
I actually have one male that has been thin all his life. Few months ago switched him to purina sport pro or pro sport whatever they call it. He lost more weight. He seems do do better on Valu pack so I am putting him back on it. I raised a litter of pups middle of last year on it and they looked great the the one I kept and the two my buddy has look good on it. I read all the time about people hating it.

A local coon club recently got 15 tons of it for really cheap and sold it as a fundraiser for $10 a bag (50lb bag) for the 26/18 blue bag. It's hard not to like it at that price. I bought 30 bags, but I also have a lot of dogs. I've fed it before and never had an issue. I had switched away because I could get Pride from a feed store a mile from the house. I was driving an hour to get Valu Pak so it wasn't worth the trip back then.

I feed Valu-Pak. It is good feed, especially for the money. I feed 24/20 in the silver bag year round. I have fed the 28/20 in the black bag and I like it just fine.

Understand it is NOT the feed that purina pro plan sport is but it's also half the price. If you are honestly hunting 6-7 nights a week hunting one hard I am not sure how one would hold up on it but they do fine for me hunting 2-3 nights a week.

The key with Valu-Pak from what I have seen is to not feed them too much. They will get loose if you do. I have two dogs I feed 3.5 cups, one I feed 4 cups and one I feed 5 cups. Each of these dogs get hunted regularly and they do fine and their stools are tight.

I would not say it's the same quality as victor but close. It has been the most like victor in my opinion.

Good

I've been feeding Valu-Pak in the blue bag for more than 1 year. Its good feed.
One of my dogs had a loose stool issue from puppy until 5 years old. He had pain during some bowel movements. Vet couldn't find the problem. I tried several different feeds with no success. Switched to Valu-Pak blue for other reasons and he has been normal ever since. So I'll be feeding that for at least the rest of his life.

.

I will share this and I don't know if it is correct or not as I never thought of it this way. But I can relate to humans and the diet pills they take and it makes sense.

I was talking with a valu pac rep the other day. I told him I have one hound that stays thin. I have fed him several things form the top of the line Purina and a couple other brands. He does the best on the Valu Pac black bag. The rep said when I wasn't hunting him. Put him on some of the lower protien valu pac because the black bag keeps their metabolism up even in the pen. Some dogs already have a hight metabolism like some people and they don't gain weight. Add something like feed that increases metabolism and they loose more weight, just sitting around. I know some of the human diet pills that doctors prescribe does the same thing. Just increases metabolism while sitting.

Anyone every here or think about this before.

Bruce you are correct. My dad has a dog off pack x easy. Fed him pro plan for ever. When I got set up as a dealer I talked him into putting this dog on the black bag. He looks much better. He was always really thin on pro plan and never would keep any weight on. Now he looks great.

Has anyone tried the purple bag of Valu-Pak 30/20? Also, do you know of any one that would ship it at a reasonable price if I bought 10-12 bags at a time?

Does tractor supply sell Val u pak feed. I would like to try the purple or black bag on my pup. I've seen it somewhere. Now that they are sponsoring hunts I would like to support them. I recently switched from dog chow to pride pro series 21/17. For my lab and he does great on it. My bluetick pup I would like to try it for her. If I can find it within a reasonable distance I will try it. Support the ones that support your sport. I only feed two dogs and am particular about what I feed just don't want to pay 50 bucks a bag.
