Can a Performance Listing registered dog enter hunts?

I contacted UKC but was a little confused about the answer. Friend had a litter of Black and Tans. Both parents are registered however dam still has puppy papers. UKC told me that I could not single register unless dams papers were sent in. But they said I could do what’s called a performance listing register and still be eligible to enter hunts, but could not enter bench shows. I was reading online and it states that “the seven Coonhound breeds may apply for Performance Listing numbers which allow entry to the non-hunting events only. They may not be used in any UKC Licensed Coonhound events.” Can anybody explain this. I understand that with performance papers you can’t breed or register litters from and that’s fine with me. (The dog will mainly be pleasure hunted) But I would like to have the option to enter some hunts as well. Thanks for any clarification.

Performance listing is more for the conformation side of UKC, you can enter rally, agility, obedience, etc I believe.

Since the dam is only on puppy papers, and if the litter owner doesn't want to permanent register her and do a litter registration, you only option is to register your pup as an X breed. That way you can enter in nite hunts.

If you call UKC again, don't ask for registration, ask for the coonhound dept, they should be able to give you a better answer.
