What stage is your favorite

What stage in hounds life do you enjoy the most and why?

1. Starting until treed first coon alone (1 year old)

2. Ready be singled out (14 months)

3. Start taking to hunts (2 year old)

4. Finished coon dog (3 and 4 year)

5. Prime (5-7 year)

6. Old seasoned hound

I understand that these stages and age isnt same on every dog. And someone will want tell how ol fred granded out 10 months.
But for everyone else you get ideal.

I like steps 1, 2 and 3...I think it is the most fun when we have to make the right decisions each time the pup goes in the woods...trying to eliminate mess ups before they can happen...equals to less setbacks...and watching the pup progress to a top dog at two years...

An older dog that does his job well I see as strictly business minded which is great...

A two year old is strictly business with a burning desire to get it done...

Picking a cross to raise or buy a pup from isn't on that list but I enjoy that stage and the singling 1 out stage a lot. Just me and a dog alone time.

I rarely keep one to stage #7 but nobody likes that stage.

I don't like stage 1 I'll do it but don't care for it.I can tolerate stage 2 and stage 3 Stage 4 and stage 5 is ok and getting better. But I like stage 6 the best.I have some in each stage right now.But if I could only have one dog only I'd take stage 6 over the rest.No idea where a couple others are seeing stage 7 at

I think stage 7 is when he's dead and gone. Then he's the best dog I ever had.

i enjoy #2 and #3 the best. I love seeing one do something they have never done before. I like the 5 stage as well. But singling one out that will tree it's own is fun to me. I enjoy watching them learn.

Good one!!

The beauty of this stage is that they keep on getting better! If you don't believe it just hang around a few guys at the hunts telling about 'ol Dead & Gone! Mind you this doesn't only pertain to coon dogs!😯

One through four are my favorites, but I never sell a dog. I keep them through stage seven.

Steps

I like 3, really enjoy watching 4 develop, the creation of a well oiled machine in 5 is my favorite. I will take classes from old number 6 every chance I get, I really enjoy watching 6's from other kennels. I always welcome the opportunity to watch a good dog work. 1-2 requires the same amount of effort for the ones that don't make it. A solid 3, you have a decent chance of making it to 6. I have a good friend that by the time they make it to 3, hes finished looking for another pup. Thanks
