This weekend our Lost Creek Club hosted a youth hunt and show along with YEP classes for the kids to get their certification. It is always so awesome to see families enjoying this sport and a day together! Kids running everywhere from 1-17 adults of all ages visting and everyone enjoying a relaxed day with food and fellowship, not an un-happy face to be found anywhere. For those of you who say we have a dying sport I encourage you to take the time to attend or plan your own youth event, yours eyes will be opened!
Cheyenne and I would like to thank all those that helped make this event a success without them nothing we do would be possible!
Tina Chandler did an awesome job doing the bench show seminar and husband James who's always here to guide or anything else we need.
Ty Anderson and Dalton Cummings for going over hunting rules. These two young men are a great example of the future at the club level and beyond. They are always here to guide, judge or anything else we may need. Both love to hunt and compete at all levels successfully. I loved it when Ty encouraged the kids to thank whoever it is that takes the time to take them hunting that all aren't blessed with that. They went over basic rules and passed out scorecards to all and encouraged them have mock hunts pleasure hunting to sharpen their skills.
Shawn Stovall who spends countless hours sitting behind a table for very little compensation usually just free food, milk or coffee lol.
JB Jones who is always present to help however I need.
Tyler Compton, another great example of a young man and the future of our sport. He's always here to guide or judge and eat my cooking!
Robert Newman for coming down and judging last night, we appreciate it so much!
My daughter Ashton and daughter-in-law Allison. Without you two the wheels would have fell off this weekend. They work so hard behind the scenes running errands, watching babies and gathering all the things I forget. Allison flipped a ton of pancakes last night after a long weekend of helping me out and deserves a nap today! Thank you to all the parents, grandparents and friends who find it important to encourage a love of the outdoors and take the time to take a kid hunting.
We would also like to thank all the land owners who's land we all hunt. Remembering our heritage and preserving the future of all hunting sports is so important in so many ways without a place to enjoy it none of this would be possible.

We see it as the least we could do. All of us should work harder at giving back. Our wish is for every area to do some kind of event even non-sanctioned whether you have 2 kids that will show up or 200. This is the first YEP event we have done but after hosting UKC Youth Nationals last year the kids were all ready for another hunt for them down here. I am going to keep pushing UKC to allow youth cast set up just like the senior cast and hope I can get the breed associations on board for a rules change. These kids enjoy hunting together so much.

You guys at the Lost Creek Coon Hunters club do an excellent job putting on an event and I always enjoy coming down to your club. I had a great time Friday night at your Super Slam and wished I would have stayed for your YEP event the pictures look like everyone had fun. Thanks for all that you guys do for Coon Hunting!!

Thanks to ALL involved to make this happen for the youngsters.

Jen is right. We sit back and assume the younger generation is not showing up or not interested in the sport. Fact is, when we give them something specifically for them, we may be surprised and see that we may have been overlooking the need to give them opportunities to get more involved. Youth only events are a good start for a lot of youngsters who may be otherwise more intimidated to hunt against the older more experienced.

We all remember our first times being out with dad or grandpa fishing and hunting. These kids will never forget either. Great job! I have my nephew here with me before school starts this year. He has been out with me every night working with the pup.
