Opening on Tree

I got a young dog that will only open a couple times when he falls treed then hardly makes a sound after that if you go to the tree as soon as you put the leash on him he opens and barks like crazy. Any ideas for fixing this problem? I've tried just not going to him but he just sits at the tree for half an hour or so and then comes looking for you.

I would do the opposite of what you're doing. Try to get to him as quickly as possible when he trees. It sounds like he may lack confidence.

Does the dog bark at least once every 2 minutes while treed?

No he does not. He barks 2 or 3 times then stops barking until you put the leash on him.
