Making Dens for coon

I've got a nice piece of land I hunt that is very thin in coon. Only thing I can figure is lack of dens on this place. Very few dens on this tract of land.

My question is has anyone everyone built den boxes and put them out with good results of increasing the population in that area?

If you have I'd sure like to see the boxes you built.

Thanks!

Here’s pics of my den boxes. I put out 5 several years ago and another 5 boxes a couple years ago. It seems to take the coons 2-3 years before they use them regularly. The boxes are basically woodduck boxes with oversized holes. The pics show a box that has gotten lots of use and would think probably housed a litter of coons. I plan to put up another 10 boxes. There are few to no good den trees in my area and that is maybe why it takes the coons a few years to adapt to them. I cannot say if this increased the coon population because I hadn’t hunted the land where the boxes are located much before I put them up. I also provide food sources to help keep them around. Good luck with your project. It is rewarding to see coons use the boxes.

logs...

I have some junk trees that I'm taking down and I cut them into 8-10 for logs and stack them parallel about 2-3 deep. Great for rabbits and the coon use them also.. You can also pile some larger pieces of concrete rubble..
