Xbred back to bluetick registered?

Since Sambo won the world hunt I'm sure their will be some blue females bred to him. I also understand that once the pups off of him are bred back to a bluetick the grandpups of him (or any other half bluetick Xbred dog) would be eligible to reenter the bluetick breed on paper if the bluetick breeders of America will allow it at that time. Does anyone know what BBOA's stance is on the reentry of the 87.5% blue-ticks

Being UKC's Charter Organization, I would think they would adhere to UKC Policy.

But .... My thoughts & a couple buck may be good for a cup of hot coffee at some fine establishments

One way to find out!

I tried to find the rules again and couldn't find them. What I remembered was a part of it that said they could be re entered of the chartered association allowed it. Maybe I'm not remembering correctly but from what I remembered it wasn't a guarantee that it could be done. I'll have to keep looking to see if I can find the rules.

United Kennel Club is pleased to announce changes to the Coonhound Single Registration process to create more uniformity in Coonhound Single Registration overall.

Effective January 1, 2015, the procedures for single registering coonhounds will be changed significantly. The changes to the single registration procedures are the result of an effort to standardize the Single Registration process among the seven recognized breeds of coonhounds.

The most significant changes include:

A unified application period, as well as consistent fees and requirements for application.
A category of hounds called “X-Bred” to be made up of dogs of unknown ancestry, cross-bred ancestry, and hounds with color disqualifications for purebred breeds. Included in the program is a process for X-Bred hounds to be bred back to purebred status.
No longer requiring breed associations to be active in the Single Registration application process, while still granting them the right to open or close their breed to the entry of qualifying X-Bred hounds.

That last sentence " No longer requiring breed associations to be active in the Single Registration application process, while still granting them the right to open or close their breed to the entry of qualifying X-Bred hounds " is what I am talking about.

Found the video when Todd Kellam introduced the X-Bred catagory. On one of the slides it says "Chartered Breed Associations will determine whether to allow re-entry of X-Bred Coonhounds via Breed Transfers". So, re-entry of an 80%+ Bluetick is not guaranteed unless BBOA allows it or opens it up just like they could allow or deny single registration in the past.

I was just asking the question because I think that a lot of people assume that it will be automatic when the dog would get to 80%+ Bluetick but the way I am understanding it BBOA has to allow those dogs to be able to be transferred back in as Blueticks. There will also be a fee, currently $50 ( $25 to UKC and $25 to BBOA ) for a dog to be transferred back into the bluetick breed on papers. According to Todd's presentation on the X-bred program BBOA and the other chartered breed associations are supposed to notify UKC before the beginning of each year whether they are allowing transfers to be made or not. The program has been out long enough that UKC should be being notified by now. So back to the original question, does anyone know what BBOA's position is on this? This is also a yearly decision that has to be made so there again, transfers are not going to be a guaranteed thing.

John

you are correct. BBOA would vote to open up registering of hounds showing an Xbred in the lineage obtaining 87+% pure bluetick. that would mean 13 registered blueticks with one xbred in the 3rd generation. That xbred would have to be 1/2 bluetick to obtain the proper %.

Wonder if they vote on that at Bluetick Days or how they are going to handle the decision each year?

single registration

was voted on in recent times at Bluetick Days. That is how it was done when it was held in Ohio. Since xbred was introduced it has not been needed and no one has a 3 generation breeding program with a xbred in the 3rd generation yet, it is way too soon. I not a fan of the xbred program but that is just MHO... Good luck to all who try it.

I should be having pups this summer, the Dam and Grand dam are X-Bred because of Non Registered full Blood Blueticks. Every Hound in their linage is UKC Registered Blueticks except the Dam(X-Bred), the Grand Dam(X-Bred) and the Great Grand Sire and Dam(Unknown Linage). I am summiting for re-entery as a Bluetick for these pups. My email is roco7452@gmail.com if you would like to see her UKC Registration papers.

If I am understanding your situation correctly, I do not believe you can get your pups registered as pr blueticks, again it is tricky as to what you are saying, but nevertheless, good luck to you, Pete

I agree, but if I get these pups registered Bluetick then the 3rd generation after them qualify to be PR Blueticks. PR Blueticks must have 3 UKC Registered Generations.
