world hunt rehunt

What do guys & gals think?
Personally i don't like it and feel this should have been handled at the zones. Will Roxanne need to show up and withdraw to get placement since she is on the disable list? This whole rehunt is a crock up of crap and i hope none of the guys show. Looking at the list of dogs, most will have to travel a long distance and only a two week notice was given. UKC should pay for rooms & travel

Guess not many are gonna reply Matt. So I'll bite.

I don't know every detail in this WH deal, but I don't think it should have been re-done either. Bad calls, cheaters, and mistakes are made all the time and it is what it is. Lick your wounds and move on, I say.

They should have just throw'd the whole thing in the trash for 2017 ( No World Champ) and looked to 2018 and clamped down HARD on that hunt.

I cant imagine re-doing the World Series or Superbowl over blown Ref calls, or even a team cheating.

However; I Do believe in stripping titles if it's later found that it was won by cheating. If solid proof was found this this years handlers did wrong, then the title should be stripped IMO.

But as you pointed out, Roxanne and others may not be able to compete in this late hunt for various reasons. The skews the outcome, no doubt. That's one reason I wouldn't try a do-over.

Isnt it unbelievable how close B&T's have come in recent years to winning that 10K WHIF fund? But a possum, a dog getting hit by a car, a wink , a nod and a terd here or there has kept it from happening, so far. I'm beginning to feel like the Cubs. Oh. wait, they did finally win the World Series in 2016 didn't they? B&T's have been just on the cusp though.

One other observation on the World Hunt; For many years men have looked at the WH with googled eyes and ewww and aww'ed dogs that won it and wanted those names on their papers. Yeah, I did it too...

But, as time has went by and as I've hunted in the WH myself several times, I've much lowered my standards of it. I used to think it took a real good dog and some luck to win it.... But I've revised that thinking to read; It takes a slick handler, some politics, a lot of money, then a real good dog.... In about that particular order too.

But again, it is what it is. You either get in and play the game or get out. I've chosen the latter myself.

Take Care Matt.

Roxanne is going to be examined in a week. She will more than likely be put in some sort of cast or bandage and be at the hunt. I am like most everyone else ,this hunt has been hunted and we got second. From my understanding they stripped everyone of their winnings. Which is crap!! Should've been no winner and left it like it was. We didn't do anything wrong so are we to protest and stay at home just let them have it or do we go and hunt it off 🤷🏼‍♂️.i guess we are going but my heart ain't in it. Might change if we win😂 Any ways after this I'm done for awhile.

Well good luck to ya Pat if ya do go.

I guess the upside of all this is, we'll have something to watch in December and see dogs work in wintertime, although Georgia ain't exactly like Iowa in December.

Seems like the Walker female grabbed some "slicks" in the final cast. There may not be many leaves to circle this time around lol. Just say'in.

i think they just should have said that there is no 17 winner and give placements with Roxanne being first.

Good luck Patrick, Bobby, & Dalton if yall do decide to go.It would be hard for me to show up if i was in yalls position. The WHIF money would be the only reason

So the logical thing is for them to hunt off the Final cast until someone wins with plus points. If one or two of the dogs can't or don't want to attend then so be it. They didn't win the first time so their placing won't change. They are 2nd, 3rd or 4th now and they will be 4th even if they don't attend. I would think that all of the 4 dogs involved would be overjoyed at the opportunity to rehunt. They can't lose, they can only win. I really don't understand why anyone that actually gets to rehunt would actually complain. I bet that Allen is scratching his head wondering what the heck. He came up with a fair and equitable solution and people are still complaining.

I haven't changed my opinion, but I must say that the post above does make some sense. There are "issues" with any solution, but Richard does have some valid points in his post above.

I would still prolly just DQ'ed the 1st place winner and listed the rest as they placed, and that's the end of it. However, you never know how the 2nd and 3rd place dogs would have hunted/scored if the DQ'ed dog wasn't in the cast?

Ok, I've changed my mind now and I'm for the new hunt. Dang, I'm just a like a woman, ain't I?

But after "think'in on it, I believe I understand better why they did it now.

Don't hold it against me though if I change my mind back again.

Here’s something to think about, every dog that shows up will have been beaten by Sambo fairly. 😉

According to what I've read, that maybe true. Someone said he would have won his cast and maybe advanced without adding a coon to his score. Is that true?

But even if it is true, it still cant be allowed to stand. You cant let someone falsify a scorecard and stay in the game. No doubt Sambo is a coondog and he has a great name too.

No there should not be a re hunt. It should show for first place for the 2017 World Hunt records Disqualified win was with drawn. have you ever heard of hearing anything in any sport ever having a rerun. Horse races the win is just pulled, nascar, track, bicycling anything they pull the wins but they never have a rerun. There is a format for the world hunt. 2 night hunt 2hr. hunt one weekend and if you make it through you have 3 nights in a row of 2hr. hunts plus hunting by yourself to tree a coon or have plus points after hunting 2hrs. the first night. If you look at the way it is set up some only need to hunt 1 night others only 2.

As far as the big pay out if Roxanne wins it all, I can bet you it won't happen. The insurance company will never pay up period. They have there protocol and a rerun isn't in it.

That is true, he would have advanced with his score without adding that final score. I am sure the handler now wishes he had changed that card while he was given the opportunity to correct it. Good example of trying to our smart your dog just let the dog do the talking. lol

I didn't know we didn't have the $10,000. insured in case of a winner. Do you know the reason they wouldn't insure it anymore?

I would differ with you on the pay out. This world championship has been hunted. If someone wins the world now it isn't a world champion. That hunt has already been hunted and they all LOST!!!!!!

I don't know all the details of what happened but if a dog is disqualified I would think that all the dogs in the finals cast would move up a place. If they needed + pts the hunt should have been extended for another drop or two... It amazes me that a hunt that has been held for decades can get screwed up....

I'm divided on whether they should re-hunt or not. There are good reasons to go either way. Its a mess either way and the best thing that can be done is to back up a little, learn from the mistakes made, try to correct them and go forward.

IMO, UKC needs to take a look at their format and I'm sure they are probably on it. They specifically need to react quicker to complaints. Its my understanding there was possibly a problem on his Friday night cast where he should have been scratched? That would have prevented all of this mess if he had been dealt with then. Most cheaters have a long history and its doubtful a guy that "puts his + on the card" and wins like this, is any different. Plus UKC had nearly a week to address it before the Finals. If they are going to get serious about cheating, then they need to be able to react to complaints, alot quicker.

I think this could turn out to be a WIN for UKC, longer term if they continue show they are serious about cheating.

Thanks John.. I didn't want to get on the cheating soapbox.. Anyone who has been around the coon hunting scene for 50yrs as I have knows that the best dog doesn't win most of the time. As someone stated earlier...it is who has the MONEY which gets you the best handler, guides/judges, cast placement etc and enables you to win with a good dog, not great dog.. Sad but it happens more than you think..

How many dogs are they planning on rehunting? If it's more than the final three dogs I say don't do it. It will be opening up a can of worms for future hunts which you will never get the lid back on..

I heard Roxeanne has an injured leg? Whats the status on that? Will she be good to go?

I will volunteer to push Roxeanne through the woods in a wheelbarrow, if necessary.

Good luck on the T shirt, can't wait to see it.

Since you only quoted half of why I bet that it wouldn't pay. But I will wear the T shirt all 3 days as long as you hand deliver it at BNT Days and enter and hunt in the hunts all 4 nights. I will need at least 5 t-shirts one for each day and a couple extra just incase they get all dirty or sweaty and I need to change.
